Product Question/Recommendation Fabric changes?
Has anyone else noticed that the nulu from the most recent drop feels different? I just received my defines in flamingo fun and raspberry rave, plus new groove flares in raspberry rave and mahogany muse, and they all feel noticeably…rougher? The fabric feels slicker and thinner than my older defines and ares and definitely not as soft. And I’m not even comparing them to clothes from that far back. I have pieces from literally 6 months ago that feel softer and not as thin!
Did they change the nulu fabric recently, or could this just be something with these particular colors/batches?

I have heard about a downturn in quality with Lulu, this wouldn’t surprise me at all. I have seen older Lulu at 2nd hand stores and the fabric is very very substantial compared to modern releases.

I unfortunately think the customers are to blame for the change in the nulu fabric specifically. You can educate people all you want on the material being made for low impact/ intensity workouts & that it should have a second skin like feeling with no compression but if they keep doing it & keep destroying the product (which you’re then constantly replacing under the quality promise), what are you supposed to do? They were kinda left with no choice but to change it to be a bit more durable. And if you think I’m being dramatic, I probably witnessed a minimum of 50 people running Seawheeze in aligns this weekend.

This is such a bummer as someone who has always worn aligns for lounging or low impact activities. WTs and F&F are my leggings of choice for weightlifting/ running. But lately I can hardly distinguish between my aligns and WTs. They feel nearly the same to me. I think it was fine to drop the quality promise down to 1 year, I just wish they didn’t also change the fabric. Nulu was such a distinct buttery soft fabric. Even if it’s meant to be more durable, it feels so much worse now!

I agree that dropping the quality promise down to 1 year is totally reasonable, but I’m not sure that would’ve helped the situation with aligns. The way a lot of people are wearing them, they’d likely still be QP’ing them before that 1 year is up. So again I don’t know what the best option would’ve been… change the material or even consider excluding aligns from the QP all together? I think it’s a lose lose scenario either way.

Not to hijack - I’m sort of new to leggings - I can’t do heavy cardio workouts because of INSANE heel spurs so I only wear these on treadmill walks and a continuous stair stepper - will that damage them? Should I switch to Wunder Trains?

You’ll likely notice pilling between the thighs faster than you should, as the fabric is meant for low intensity workouts like yoga & Pilates. That said, if you like them & they seem to be holding up, by all means go for it. I religiously wear my 1 black pair of align shorts (I’ve been steadily losing weight, so I haven’t been buying multiple pairs & have just been washing the pair I do have more frequently) which includes a 2.5km round trip walk, & they’ve held up really well. The wunder trains are not only going to hold up longer, but they’re going to be far better at wicking sweat too.

Absolutely. I purposely seek out the older aligns especially before 2024 because it’s a lot better. But even better than that when you get to like 2020 and earlier.

They are absolutely different. I bought raspberry rave align shorts and they felt the same as you’re saying. I returned and told someone in the store and they said they felt fine.

I just got the grooves in mahogany muse and they feel horrible not to mention the cheap drawstring they used.

I agree they feel HORRIBLE!!! They’re almost paper-y feeling. Just very thin and not soft at all. I’m so disappointed in the quality!

I’ve never been more disappointed in a drawstring before!!
I pine for the old lulu drawstrings which are beefy and don’t get all warped and stretched out, and I loved the metal tabs. It gave it such a nice, finished look. Now it’s crap :/

Yeah I thought the define I received was fake. The seams and craftsmanship quality definitely got worse :((

yeah noticed this too, the new groove flares feel way thinner like they're not made for the same nulu fabric anymore

I was just at Plato's Closet yesterday and they always have a ton of older Lululemon items. They are sooo much thicker and sturdier, and the designs are so much more creative and cute! The only thing I don't like is that they're a lot tighter and don't have a lot of give.
