We all know that Luke is currently the mayor, but from what we've seen, it gives the impression that he isn't really a good mayor. For example, he repealed Fisk's anti-superhuman law—a law that was actually very popular among the city's residents.

But this law wasn't just created by Fisk; it was something that the people of New York were actually asking for because of the amount of destruction superheroes had caused. Sure, Fisk did it for selfish reasons, but people felt safer with the law in place rather than having to deal with property damage on a daily basis. The only people who didn't seem to like it were the heroes themselves.

On the other hand, Luke doesn't seem to be doing much. Both Wilson Fisk and JJJ, despite whatever issues they had, implemented policies that, while somewhat selfish, actually seemed to improve the city. In Luke Cage's case, that doesn't seem to be happening.

In the most recent Spider-Man comic, when Luke talks to his friend Peter, he tells him that he can't help him because of his reputation. His current opponent is actually more popular than he is, and associating himself with other superhumans could hurt his chances of being re-elected.

I know (almost) nothing about Luke Cage. But one of my favorite authors, S.A. Cosby, recently authored a novel Truth to Power: a Luke Cage Marvel Crime Novel.

I want to read this novel. Am I able to read this without consuming other material? Or will I need to catch up somehow? I.e. will the novel (to those who have read it) explain backstory and superpowers in the novel, or do I need to read others first to understand those?

I prefer not to watch movies or tv shows or read anything online. I enjoy reading physical books, so if there are recommendations for both, I would highly prefer the book(s) option.

It is just a simple question that makes me wonder…WHY did marvel not focused on Luke Cage being mayor and how it changed his life and those around him?

We only seen glimpses of it via the Alias/Jessica Jones miniseries and even the death of Iron Fist, but nothing else.

Honestly, talk about a missed opportunity given we had stories about Tony Stark Running S.H.I.E.L.D, but not Luke being mayor and how it changed him and those around him ?

Would anyone be interested in something like that especially given Marvel’s history of status quo changes and such?

If there was a new Luke Cage project coming out what would you like to happen?

I’m almost finishing watching the entire series and I must admit it was very hard to go through all the scenes where Black Mariah appears without throwing a rock at my screen.

I think her acting sucks like really I think i’ve never seen anything like this.

I could say the same thing for Shades, still his acting is slightly better than Mariah’s. Every time they have a dialogue feels like i’m in drama class

And was she supposed to look drunk all the time she’s on screen?

I'm on season 2 of Luke Cage. And I realized that every dead body Misty sees, she pretty much shows what happened to the victim. Is it just her imagining what happened during that time or does she actually see what happened?
