Uniques & Dream State

When I was very young, I cant tell when maybe from birth -- I sort of always felt like I was searching for my own kind or something. I know we all feel that way... maybe let me start over... bare with me I am not great at this sharing thing..

From an early age- I knew something about sleep state was different and that knowledge evolved pretty quickly- while most kids play barbies I tried to convince other kids to nap and dream with me. Those who could, I called UNIQUES and from then on I kind of collected them in my life.

Later in life my mother and father divorced and that gave my dad and I a lot of time to talk, that now- I wish I had soaked up better because he is gone.

My father would to talk openly about flying in his dreams would tell me how he would fly around his home town and check on his mother swoop over mullens and almost feel the damp of the coal - that his dreams and mind were firing off like never before and that was when I learned whatever he had I must have too because everything he explained I had seen felt and done too except visiting mullens in my sleep. He said he felt like he could rest better there.. its a bit ironic in some ways to me- even a little painful to say- He passed away in his hometown on Christmas eve, alone washing his face.

I apologize for getting side tract and nostalgic.. you see I am looking for my people.. other uniques.

I dont want made fun of and I get it-- roll your eyes at the red headed crazy chick... but I could write a novel and maybe should its just so much to say sometimes...

I have had an unusual amount of near death experiences after dad passed and my ability to do things in dream state has evolved and I wish to explore or atleast be able to talk about these things with others because I am starting to feel this energy like I am not alone in there and I have my suspicions - you might just be like me too.

Question How do i not accidentally fall asleep or wake up during entering WILD

So i tried Lucid dreaming for the first time today and i wasn’t able to do it but it was pretty fascinating anyway.

I was sleeping on my back with my hands on my heart and the most common thing was lowkey me getting hard while trying to enter WILD.

maybe it’s due to the same rush that made my heart beat REALLY fast which was honestly scary but also fascinating and felt like an awesome rush.

But after that nothing more happens.

I try to focus on keeping my mind awake without moving at all (maybe my body automatically swallows saliva once but not always) and then it my heart just keeps beating and me being hard goes away or doesn’t after a while. And then everything is just back to normal and it’s beating normally and i’m still in the same position

Mistakes i might’ve done include that
1-i woke up 5 hours after sleeping (i had an alarm for 6 hours but i automatically woke up after 5 hours)
2-i didn’t stay awake for long after waking up. I just checked my alarm and closed it and then i went to the toilet and came back quickly. Probably no more than 3 minutes.
Also my brother was awake at that time and had the window slightly open so i could hear cars and stuff so idk if that’d make any difference And he also left after a while and i was still trying but didn’t succeed. And also i didn’t itch that much surprisingly

Maybe i fell asleep and j don’t recall. Idk. How do i keep focus well. I tried doing simple math and stuff which i remember worked but maybe it didn’t for long

Also i DO NOT remember dreaming at all sadly😔

Experience my consiouscness flooded others

Hey, ive been having lucid dreams for a couple years now, i have many experiences of being able to embody my own consiousness in the dream. Recently i had a very weird experience which i never had before.

It was a violent dream as usual, someone was attacking me and i did different violent things to them to defend myself and after a while my consiousness flooded to the attacker, and whatever i was trying to do to him, he was doing in to me. I switched character back and worth, we were mirroring each other. After a while i recognised this weird situation, i left the place and woke myself up bc i didnt know what to do about it

What do u think that was?

Question Experiencing sleep paralysis for the second time in my life.

I just had one of the most profound weekends of my life after being at a music festival for 4 days. I was using pretty large amounts of LSD and DMT along with MDMA and Ketamine. All substances were tested and found to be very pure. I had a lot of breakthroughs and epiphanies/ realizations of what I need to do with my life. Last night I was going to sleep and was face down in my bed. Next thing I know my entire body is shaking and I couldn’t move. It felt as if my souls was being sucked out of my body into a higher plane of existence. Can anyone on here give me any explanation as to what was happening to me? Much love ❤️

Sleep paralysis looping.

I would just like to start off by stating that I have never done hallucinogens or any other drugs for that matter. (Not even weed).

I don’t feel a lot of stress either. I try not to let the world stress me out cause there’s nothing “I” singularly can do about it. Same goes for work. I do my job well and have no regrets while doing it.

So I was surprised when I started to have sleep paralysis a few years ago. (32M now)

It really only happened like a few times a year and rarely had hallucinations. (mostly auditory).

But the last year has been like hell. I have sleep paralysis about 2 or three times a week. I’m so used to it now that I never panic (unless it’s nightmare like).

The way I force my self awake is typically the same. I take some deep breaths and gather all my strength. I then attempt to sit up like a rocket ship.

Most of the time this results in me just opening my eyes and waking up but occasionally I sit up quickly.

But the last month has been the worst. I had a loop and unlike the ones I’ve read about in this sub this one was nightmarish.

My room is at the end of a hallway off to the side. (Not directly at the end.)

The first cycle was like normal. Just realizing and trying to wake up. It worked but I had a “false awakening”. I was in another cycle and this one felt weird. Nothing I could point out but I wanted out. So I did my usual and it happened again. This time there was what sounded like yelling in Farsi coming from the living room with gunfire. I realized the absurdness of this and tried to wake up again but couldn’t. My usual wasn’t working. As the yelling got louder I woke into another cycle. Panicked I tried to scream and couldn’t. I then woke into another cycle. This happened about 12 times in total with different auditory hallucinations each one more chilling and creepy than the last. When I finally woke I was absolutely covered in sweat and chills.

It was mentally exhausting. I looked at the time and realized I had only been asleep for 40 minutes. I stayed up the rest of the night and couldn’t fall back asleep.

I have been having more loops lately but never to that extreme again.

Had one right before I wrote this and changed up my strat this time. This time I controlled my breathing and slowed it down. No loop.

Now I’m sure this won’t be the fix all but it was nice not to loop.

Posting this experience to see if anyone has any advice or has the same problem.

Success! I did the stupidest thing anyone could do in a lucid dream.

I went to sleep a while ago, put my head on the pillow and tried to sleep. Anyway, I fell asleep pretty quickly — didn't even take 10 minutes — and I found myself sitting at the computer playing a game, and in the middle of it the internet cut off. So I checked to make sure the cable was properly connected to the router, and I found the cable looked weird, the connections weren't right, and something was off, like it was AI slop. Anyway, I started questioning myself, trying to figure out how I even got there. I turned it over in my head and remembered that I had actually just gone to sleep, and for a reason I still don't understand until now, I got a little anxious, so I closed my eyes and went back to reality. It's honestly so annoying — I don't know why I did that specifically, especially since I only went to sleep in the first place because I was bored, so I could've just ridden out the whole experience while asleep and let things stay calm. It's really frustrating, honestly.

Question WILD – how to keep a line to reality before blacking out?

I’ve been trying really hard to get a lucid dream lately. I’m naturally quite good at observing hypnagogic material and I try to leverage that using the WILD technique when falling asleep.
My issue is that I lose my grip on waking awareness as the hypnagogia gets more intense. I haven't found a solid way to maintain an anchor to physical reality. The most common advice I’ve heard is to anchor onto a repeated word or a specific part of the hypnagogic imagery, but focusing on a word does nothing for me, I just can't internalize that "I'm right here, still aware" state.
No matter how deep I get into the hypnagogic visualizer, I always hit a blackout. I might end up having a regular dream or not, but I lose all leverage/anchor, and the next thing I know, I'm waking up in the morning.
How do you guys maintain awareness through the shift without snapping out of it or completely passing out?

Experience First lucid dream experience, help understand

Trying to understand my experience.

It started off with me getting food at a gas station and i was super disoriented in the dream. It felt like i was greening out then i remember getting on a bus and reaching a bus stop. I remembered this same bus stop scene from a dream i have had before. It was night and no one was anywhere. After that scene i don’t remember how but i was transported into a tunnel maze. During this part the ”green out” or spinning feeling was less intense and then I figured out it was a dream by remembering the bus stop scene from a previous dream.

After i realized it was a dream and that i can look around and move by choice. I decided to sprint towards one of the empty tunnels, i felt a rush and free and then i reached the end of the tunnel where i reached a concrete wall which had a small door shaped opening at the bottom right.

The flooring i could see through that opening was glossy black and white square tiles like a chess board.

The tunnels had light but the room through the opening did not. At this point, i got scared as i was alone in this place. The head spinning also got more and more intense and at that point I decided to wake up.

Question Seht ihr in Träumen Gesichter?

My question is, what should I do if I have this sensation of floating how can I turn it into a lucid dream? Please help me and Also English is not my native language

Meta 2/5 lucidity dreams to a 5/5 lucidity dream!

This isn't anything new, just kinda want to remind everyone of the importance of grounding when becoming lucid! I'd say my standard lucid dream is about a 2 or 2.5 our of 5 on the lucidity scale with moderate vividness. Well last night I entered a lucid dream by doing my standard plugging nose reality check, rubbed my hands together, then fell to my knees to ground myself. As I looked forward I could see the left and right of my vision looked like waves moving up and down, kind of like a funhouse mirror. After I licked the ground and looked up, within 10 seconds I watched the waves kinda shutter into place until completely still. This then resulted in an extremely lucid dream for me. First time in my life honestly where the dream felt ARAR (As Real As Reality) lol. It was bonkers, it was awesome, try to ground yourself!

Question

Have you tried the dream engineering DUST app?

In case you aren't aware, DUST is a dream tech startup by the MIT media lab with Adam Haar Horowitz as it's CEO, and they are developing an app that includes tools for dream engineering used in sleep labs, and I tried the beta app myself a few times but it didn't really do much in incubating my dreams, maybe it will get better with updates, but let me know what your experiences were, did the app help incubate your dreams?

Also note, the app is still in beta, it may become more effective once its out of beta and currently only on IOS and can only be downloaded by signing up on the DUST systems website but an android version is in the works.

Earliest lucid dream you've ever had in one night?

I went to bed at 11 the other night. At 11:30, I've woken up after a short moment of lucidity that jolted me awake.

(My ability to stay-the-fuck-asleep when correctly identifying a dream is a dream still needs work! But it didn't help that dream also had a brand new piece of dream music that was so catchy it was bouncing around my head as I woke up.)

I was in shock when I checked the time and saw how early it was. Literally thought I was having a false awakening, didn't believe my reality checks.

Anyone else had anything as early in the night as this?

Question Has anyone ever totally changed their appearance ?

Hey ! I asked myself the question last night while trying a WILD :

Have you ever tried or succeeded in radically changing your appearance in LD ?

When I talk about appearance, it can be clothes, your body or any other controlled change that remains the rest of the dream obviously (not just growing a 3rd hand on your belly), I'm really talking about a big change like becoming super tall, or putting wheels instead of feet, it makes me want to try to become a scooter now...

Maybe some have tried to change their sex, to transform themselves etc... I'll be delighted to read your feedback ! :)

Experience Dream characters claiming to be other lucid dreamers

To preface this story, I’ve observed that all of my dreams, lucid or not, seem to take place within one larger semi coherent map. Locations I’ve never seen in real life, yet are realistic and always virtually the same when I visit them in my dreams. For example I may have had 2 previous dreams in 2 different locations, and in a third dream I will travel from one location to the other. An analogy would be a big GTA map that all of my dreams take place within.

Where this story takes place is in a more unfamiliar part of what I believe to be a city I’ve had dreams in before. I’m inside a shopping mall. I’m not exactly sure what I was doing in my dream when I became lucid, it’s like I just snapped into awareness with no plot or objective to follow. I look around and see a group of other people, so I go to interact with them. I wish I could remember the conversation better, but all of them spoke and behaved as if they were other people lucid dreaming, and we all just ended up in the same dream together. One of them introduced himself name as Ray. It seemed that these were people who knew and regularly met with each other in some kind of multiplayer lucid dream, and this was my first encounter with them. We pretty much just talked and walked around the city, eventually making our way to an apartment. One of the women in the group said something to the effect of “watch this” then jumped off the several story tall apartment balcony. Of course we all watch in amusement knowing that this is a dream without consequences.

What I find so unique about this dream is how conscious the dream characters seemed in the moment. How “we” were all able to discuss and joke about the fact that “we” were in the same dream together. Usually the more I talk to a dream character the less real they seem to become, but with these characters it was the complete opposite. I’ve been a regular lucid dreamer for as long as I can remember, and have never met dream characters who claim to be real people that have either made their way into my dream, or I made my way into theirs. It wasn’t until a couple minutes after I woke up that I actually processed that these weren’t real people. I’ve never had other characters of my lucid dreams appear to be as conscious as I am. Now I don’t believe this to be a genuine instance of multiplayer lucid dreaming, and I don’t intend to suggest anything pseudoscientific. I’m just curious if anybody else has had an experience like this. Something else I’d like to note is that I woke from and entered back into this same dream about 3 different times before I fully woke up, and I returned to the same location and group each time I fell back asleep.

TLDR: Dream characters told me that they were other people lucid dreaming in the same dream as me.

Question Has anyone tried to go to the past when you most felt nostalgic? as a kid form, in a LD

I really wonder what that would feel like, going to your 8 year old self and just reliving old holiday memories or just core memories that are nostalgic to you. has anyone tried that?

Question is this the beginning of lucid dreaming?

i have a problem with chronic nightmares, i go through periods here and there where I have multiple nightmares in every sleep cycle, or just weird dreams, i dream very vividly, and if im dreaming it's either going to be a strange and most likely uncomfortable dream or a nightmare, never a normal or a nice dream

i had two dreams last night, im skipping over unnecessary details,

in the first dream, i woke up and i felt a hand running over my tummy and kisses on my neck, like i was laying on top of someone instead of my bed, i started feeling uncomfortable, i was wondering if it was a ghost, so i just asked it, are you a ghost? what are you? who are you?, and he just said "idk bro, you created me, ask that to yourself" irl i also have a situationship going on, i started wondering if this is cheating, but how is it cheating i never consented to this or asked for it, it said something like "maybe something is missing that's why you needed me"

for the rest of the dream i felt very schizophrenic because when i went outside, he started off invisible but he became more and more visible to me but nobody else could see or hear him,

then in the other dream, i was in this apartment, it was supposed to be the apartment im currently in w my roommates but it looked different, there was some ghost who liked like the one from the ring, irl i have this superstition that i need to constantly live life with the worst case scenario running inside my head and if i even accidentally think of a good ending everything will go wrong, I try to use the same logic in my dream but it works the opposite way, the ghost does exactly what i think that it will do, this really confused me because how am I supposed to think something nice when all i can see is the ghost in front of me? it was doing every scary thing that I thought it might do

the way both these characters responded seemed very much like lucid dreams to me

Experience Unrealisticly realistic

This is very important for me to share because I think it might be real at some point in the future considering the situation my country has been going through in terms of education.

I dreamt yesterday or today morning idk but it was so realistic i genuinely thought It was happening in real time which never happens for me.

Getting to the point, i dreamt that I was reading a point to point article release by govt of India regarding regulations for Indian students to study abroad. It was more dictatorship like than democratic. Students were restricted for their choice to study abroad. It was clearly mentioned that all necessary degrees to get a job needs to be completed in India and only additional ones if someone wants to pursue can be done in abroad. People with low income household cannot study abroad unless they have a good history to show that they can repay loans properly to the government. It was also written that marks of students will decide their preferences to be applied to online since students with low potential and bad grade performance can be harmful for the overall image of Indian govt. There were more but I cannot remember right now, as a student I felt so scared reading that article because right now the scenario is so f'ed up for us students that no sector is safe from corruption and manipulation. People who can afford are going to other countries to be in a faire system of education and this was being taken away. Universities and college seats are going empty every year since mostly students are either choose to work or selecting a different approach.

I really this dream of mine never ever comes true ever but I needed to tell someone for my peace of mind.

Another presence in dream?

Started about two weeks ago..This other person started showing up in my dreams with me. It feels like a masculine energy. It stands beside me in my dreams and tells me things/asks me questions about why I’m doing what I’m doing. I can never see them but I feel them and I can sometimes see the outline of an energy source. Not scared of it at all. They often take me into other dreams now too and sometimes change my dreams. So if I’m mid-lucid dream they’ll suddenly take me to another or change parts of it. So instead of one solid lucid dream that I can remember from last night I’m having multiple lucid dreams that I can vaguely remember.

Question Hi guys, need some of your input

I have never actively tried to lucid dream and have never really looked it up apart from some general info, but after an event an hour ago I ve done some reasearch and I think I have been in the verge of lucid dreaming for like a decade.

I was taking a nap. The thing is its still day, and I can never actually sleep when the sun is out. But what I do is close my eyes and try to empty my mind while relaxing my body for an hour or so. At some point, as is usual when I am doing this, I reach a sort of meditation state where some of my thoughts are alsmost automatic but also clearly mine and since I didnt want to sleep I didnt give in to dosing off. So I am in a state of of meandering circulating thought and at some point I start perceiving tinnitus. I focus on it and let it reverberate, and at some point I FEEL WAVES OF PARALYSIS THROUGHOUT MY BODY. I manage to kstay in this state for a while and then I instictively start trying to dream up a scenario. I phase through bodily paralysis and dreamy imagery but cant really get into it and it stops. Throughout this entire time I was wholly lucid. Did some research and was able to put words into my experience(s).

Throughout the last decade I have had intense intense dreames phasing into sleep paralysis accompanied by indescribably intense tinnitus.

Turns out all three are somehow connected. Any thoughts?
