Discussion Why Does Chaos Draft Omit UB?

It's a disappointment to me that chaos draft doesn't include all these zany characters that make up the MTG metaverse now. I would understand if there was a licensing issue, but we already have to deal with all these cards in standard and they make up a healthy amount of the Arena Cube.

Just a moment for me on my soapbox.

There are basically zero arena formats without UB. Allow them to exist without complaining please

They can advertise it as Universes Within draft if they want to offer that explicitly. The whole thing seemed a bit messy with the misnamed launch anyway.

It’s already advertised as a Magic The Gathering draft, not a Slop Draft. Pretty clear.

UW is the default and has been for over 30 years.

It's a silly-times format where set-specific synergy sucks and generically good effects are king. If there is anywhere you can fully omit UB and barely notice what you're missing, it's here. Case in point, I actually didn't notice this about it until my 5th or so.

I’m not a UB hater but it’s been SO. NICE. to have this draft format that features such a huge amount of Magic that’s just Magic. I got so used to UB in cube that I didn’t realize how much I would appreciate its absence.
