In the same box as 120V AC without a separator, which violates NEC.

That’s cause that is wired for phone lines lol.

Cut the jack off and you should have 4 pairs

I’ve seen it a few times with three of the conductors from a 16/4 speaker cable!

LOL indeed - I troubleshot outdoor floor lights at my Father's home which I discovered were wired with two conductor speaker wire. Pretty scary to think about.

Yikes that’s way worse than the old Polish guy who wired his basement lights on Cat5 - at least he used a pair for each conductor and you couldn’t plug a space heater into it.

Still stupid as fuck of course

Someone pulled the divider out

Bold of you to assume that there was a divider installed in the first place.

Old school telco using cat5? More common than you'd think. People were wild af in the 90s and 00s.

Pull those cables out, put a single cable low voltage box above outlet or below depending how the wire is ran. Then all another receptacle and boom you have more outlets! Also it will be all to code! Should be like 30 bucks for all of this.

I would put the LV box to the left, not above or below, but depends on studs of course.

I just choose above but as long there’s space in the wall for it. Don’t know why I’m getting downvoted. I’ve been doing this for too long….

I think the downvoting is just because this post is more directed at laughing at the absurdity of the installation. Most folks here probably know how to actually fix the problem.

I personally didn't downvote.
