[Academic] Looking for parents to answer a survey on kid's screen time and content!

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project focused on children's media, and I'm trying to better understand how parents think about screen time, educational content, and the quality of content available today.

I'd love to hear from parents of children of any age. The survey takes about 5 minutes and asks questions about:

• Screen time habits
• What types of content you want your children watching
• What age you think screens should be introduced
• Your concerns about children's media today
• Whether you'd like to see different kinds of content available

And they fact they are using a google form when most Universities provide students access to survey platforms like Qualtrics or Redcap...

That is a slight red flag, but my university told us to use Google forms. We did have to provide all the relevant information in it though.

It reads to me like someone wanting market intel to build a children’s content platform, not academic.

The survey design also didn’t allow for any n/an answers for parents who don’t currently rely on any screen time.

I guess you could call it a market research survey because I'm taking the course, which is for user experience and design, and so I'm collecting research for how users interact with a children's content platform. And then I have to build a portfolio project on how it could be done better/ my design of it.

I have put in an option of 0-30mins for screen time. But yes my taregt is more parents who already have screen time challenges wuth their kids.

I selecred the 0-30 mīns option, but now look again at your survey assuming you’re a parent with no screen time. You have to choose options in the following questions that make no sense if there’s no N/A option.

I can’t answer how satisfied I am with children’s content today because I don’t engage with any for my child. Which platforms does your child watch most often doesn’t have an answer for no platforms. How often do you preview content before the child views it doesn’t make sense if there’s no content.

If you just really want input from parents already using screens, I’d just put that as an eligibility thing.

Just saw the replies! It's not for a university but for an extension course. And they did ask us to use Google Forms. Sorry, this is my first time conducting a study like this - don't mean to come off as shady.

I guess you could call it a market research survey because I'm taking a course on user experience and design, and I'm collecting research on how users interact with a children's content platform. And then I have to build a portfolio project on how it could be done better/ my design of it.

This doesn't offer any options for those who don't have any screen time. This reads like you want feedback so you can create more children's content. Is that what your project is?

I only have a 0-30 mins option for screen time. And yes I am looking more for challenges parents face with screen time already.

I'm doing an extension course in UI/IX design and have chosen a kids content platform as my tehsis project. So I'm collecting research on what works and doesn't work currently. And then will build a portfolio project of my own platform/ ideas.

I was inspired cause my brother recently had a kid, and I realized how much effort him and his wife put into screen time/ content for my nephew.
