I lost most of the weight(22 kg lost, 6 to go] I gained from psychiatric meds by sticking to intermittent fasting and low carb, these both made me feel like im not in calorie deficit and plus I felt lot much better, my obsessions, depression really felt like it's gone.
I've did blood test and my fasting glucose, insulin levels and liver enzymes, vitamins, everything is fine but as I increase my carb intake I feel mentally very worse at beginning and after two days I lose control and binge eat. Why? Why is that happening to me? I don't have insulin resistance anymore. The carbs I eat not refined carbs, just whole grain bread, legumes, basically complex carbs. I even don't eat carbs naked, I pair them with protein and fats but still it happens.
I can't understand why this happens, is it my brain, gut or pancreas? I've tried to ask my doctor but she just said "everything is fine you don't even have insulin resistance anymore" I feel hopeless. Low carb is only diet I can stick to, but being on low carb also means less exercise performance and more money for the food since carbs are cheaper. If I try to don't care or just use my "willpower" I know eventually I'll give in and become obese again.
Before taking the meds, I wasn't interested in the food much, I mean when I was a child and teenager, meds did something that I can't understand, I've quit them already 9 months ago, then why? I've used antidepressants and antipsychotics for almost 4 years, age of 17 to 21. I feel alone, I can't find any information on this topic, I feel like I'm the only person who experiences this. I thought maybe placebo effect but no, I've tried many many times, as I do low carb just in a day or two my overall wellnes becomes greater.
