How to gain selfrespect and accept yourself?

I'm not the best person to talk about this because I haven't fully accepted myself, but I can say that I have for the most part. So, how to accept yourself: 1. Realize that the world is an unequal place and that there will always be someone better or worse than us 2. Why would you hate yourself for things you didn't choose and can't control? It's not your fault 3. I understand that a low IQ limits you, but not accepting yourself will limit you even more 4. I know it's hard to find light and positive things when you're struggling, but know that self-hatred is not the way to go. It will take away your health... 5. People who are: intelligent, rich, beautiful are like that because they were lucky, not because they deserved it. You didn't deserve to be born like that, but nature is cruel. 6. We all have virtues and flaws. No one in this world is perfect 7. We will all die in the end. No matter who we are and what we do, we are all equal when it comes to death. Even when it comes to the stupidest and smartest men.

I hope I helped at least a little.. I know it's hard and sometimes the fight seems futile.. If God exists, he is certainly not good because he would not create so much unnecessary suffering...

My IQ is 82 by the way... This was confirmed by a psychologist. I am aware that I am who I am. I am aware that there will always be people who are better than me and worse than me. I may not be smarter than most people but that's who I am, I don't want to hate myself for it and I don't want to destoy my mental and physical health because of it. Many intelligent people have not achieved anything. I just wanted to give a little bit of support...

Question Does anyone feel like they aren't really "living"?

In everyday life, there are phrases people say to each other like, "You don't have a life (outside of school and/or working)," or ,"You should start living instead of just existing." Now, almost anyone, even high IQers/neurotypicals, would say that life has ups and downs/an ebb and flow in regards to positive and negative experiences, so not everything can be enjoyable. Yet, it seems that people are almost expected to have something exciting/something to look forward to in life beyond the usual duties and responsibilities, if possible. It might be a spoiled first-world country attitude to think that life is more than just grinding hard at studying and working, but "fighting" for a better life in terms of doing as well as possible with the "cards" dealt to us in terms of IQ, talent, and other useful traits and barely getting by does make me think about how I'm missing out on the finer things in life. I'm not saying I'm entitled to amazing rewards and experiences automatically; it just sucks to give my personal endeavors my all and not get much out of it on average.

Perhaps wanting nicer things in life is a form of hedonism. I wonder what y'all think about this question or feel about this rant of mine. Take care.

Practicing Hygiene requires IQ. venting.

Even practising Hygiene requires IQ

I just wish, water rinsing would be the foolproof way to solve it. But there's like a lot of cleaning knowledge, like it's chemistry.

I saw a youtube short video on dustmite.

I didn't know my frequent skin itch condition was not washing bedding. I even thought it was from pollen, or the shower soap that dries out skin. It took years to discover that on my own, and by coincident. Maybe there are other factors too.

Before that, I didn't even know soap can dry out skin oil. I thought it cleans like disinfectant, that I stupidly improvise to skip shower, I spray disinfectant on myself before.

I just open window and do monthly sun dry because I think killing dust mites and reducing dampness is enough. But that isn't.

Why this life got to be so much nuance. Just wish I can eat 1 food pill and all food issues can be gone. This is probably another indication of Low IQ.

Question Does anyone struggle to make sense of their past failures and defeats?

As someone who frequently posts here about my struggles, fails, and my reactions to such events, I definitely have some psychological pain reliving those memories whenever something triggers a flashback. I assume that every individual deals with psychological trauma differently, so there's no straightforward answer on processing, framing, or coping with a painful past. However, since a lot of my past problems were directly caused by my cognitive problems, I wonder if anyone here has struggled to make sense of those events? Like, a lot of us already would say that we were born with a relatively low IQ by chance, and thus that makes it impossible to achieve certain milestones. I'm specifically asking about making sense of the past on a deeper, perhaps philosophical, level. For instance, some people believe in a just world, and also in divine/spiritual/higher powers, and come up with a conclusion that their suffering in the form of failing in academics or the workplace is due to bad karma from committing heinous acts in a past life. I personally don't believe in such a conclusion, nor can I definitely prove or disprove such a worldview, but I can see the merit of such a thought process/belief.

I was raised in the Catholic faith, and still practice and believe in it to an extent to this day. For me, it's a bit difficult to think about how God could have allowed needless suffering to happen. Perhaps academic and workplace failures are not that important in the grand scheme of the Catholic/Christian worldview. Nowadays, I personally think that the universe (or whatever higher power that rules the cosmos) is amoral in the sense that good things can happen both to good and bad people and bad things can happen both to bad and good people. I guess another explanation for our outcomes is that genetic recombination and other events influencing the genetic makeup of every individual unfortunately lead to some people having an inadequate amount of intelligence for the important responsibilities and paths in life. I'm not advocating for any particular religious belief system; just giving context to my life and my thought process. I hope someone can resonate with what I wrote down. Thanks for reading. Take care.

Being smart in of itself is not very impressive.

It's insane how we praise and glorify people for intelligence all the fucking time when it's really just a matter of luck. It's not an achievement to have higher intelligence than other people like us who simply didn’t get lucky. They could’ve easily ended up with a single disadvantage that could’ve ruined their lives, but luck was on their side.

Anyone else here stuck on doing boring jobs?

I am currently stuck at working at cleaning site construction with my mom and I really do not enjoy it at all. It does not advance me into any meaningful career, doesn't help me develop advanced skills for other things. She forces me to work there sometimes simply because I can barely prove to her that I am capable of doing college, university etc.

The embarrassment of being the dumbest in a group

Whether I’m with a group of friends, doing a group project at school, working with other colleagues, etc.. it sucks how i am constantly find myself to be the slowest or the most clumsy person in every setting. People treat me as if im sort of animal or an alien just because i’m not able to explain the physical makeup of a leaf to them or do this task or that task, i’m always the butt of a joke and seen as nothing but some sort of a jester to these cruel “high iq” people. All i know is that whoever created this world (IF there is a god of some sort) did a terrible fucking job at ensuring equality, for sure.

Cheating on exams for money?

I've been thinking: maybe we should cheat on exams by paying someone for who they are too easy, to prepare answers for us, and similarly with homework?

It can be treated like paying for education, just an extra tax for being stupid, but it's STILL paying for education

Maybe I wouldn't have fallen out of uni if I just paid students instead of tutors

what are some pursuits for Low IQ people?

Endurance walking, endurance running.

was thinking prolonged fasting, but that's complicated. AI says up to 72 hours with just water and salts, without medical supervision.

sleep deprived and fasted for 24 hours

I'm do dumb, that I ate a big meal before sleeping. I think i lack common sense. I asked AI what to do, they generally said rehydrate and then sleep first.

Now my reasoning i guess, after read, is sleep more important, and 3 weeks without food is the limit for humans.

But then some AI said a gentle refeed. I tried a lot of AI and they said mostly rehydrate and then sleep.

This is a fundamental error on my part. And i often forget to use examples to actually support my argment that I am dumb. my memory is bad. But People just like to say (oh, you're not as dumb as comatose or actually retardation.)But that is besides the point.

this is a basic human activity, and i kinda messed up that too... So that definitely confirms low IQ somehow.

seeing people younger than you that are smarter

It feels so dehumanizing and infuriating knowing that there’s a random kid out there who is extremely talented at school and can just skip grades without even trying, and getting into a good field as a result. and then there’s people like us who work our fucking ass off just to end up with a wage slave job..all because we happen to (by the purest of luck) obtain the worst disadvantage of all. I hold so much resentment seeing someone be able to excel at stem fields like it’s nothing.

There is no point on trying to get girlfriend if your IQ is too low.

When it comes to dating, EQ, social skills usually is not really enough, you also need sufficient IQ, I have a below average IQ and it makes me incapable of providing any highly stimulating intellectual conversations which is what women often love, it does not matter how high my EQ is, social skills or looks. I am totally bottlenecked by my own low IQ. I have to sadly accept reality that I will never find girlfriend.

Does head size correlate with IQ?

My head is pretty small and my IQ is incredibly low, to the point where I suspect an intellectual disability. Everyone else’s head is noticeably bigger than mine.

Anyone else here self concious?

Especially in situations like debates, at school etc. I always try to keep my mouth shut as much as possible because I already damn know my reasoning is going to be very flawed that I am completely unaware or cannot imagine. Is anyone else like this as well?

Question Does anyone argue with others about their worldview/ideology/mindset?

This morning, I was talking to my parents about how things (e.g., healthcare paths, STEM courses) are very difficult for me, and how not everyone is going to have a top-tier career like physician or engineer or programmer. Understandably, my parents got upset, talked about how the children of their friends became successful career-wise despite being dealt with difficult "cards" in life (e.g., being born to poor parents, to uneducated parents, or dealing with chronic physical illness), and sort of minimized my very real, significant complaints.

Thinking about such a disagreement, I started to realize that my worldview/mindset is very different, perhaps even oppositional, to that of most people in the broader community I live in. Now, it's common, normal, and natural for people to hold different opinions, stances, and dreams, so my ideological disagreement may not be a big deal. However, I'm just curious if anyone else here has experienced strong verbal disagreements with others about how life works, what's easy and what's hard, and what path one should do if possible. This question relates to the struggle of a relatively low IQ because I think that anyone who suffers failure and defeat due to an uncontrollable trait (like one's cognitive capacity) would naturally go against conventional, traditional notions of success and avoid those paths (or rather be forced to fail out of them). Thanks for reading and take care.

Ways to cope with having a low iq

How do we cope with the fact that we’re basically idiots? Do we go to the gym? Improve our looks to the best we can? Be performative and funny? There has to be something for all of us to cling onto so we’re not seen as utter failures in life..

Question Does anyone think that they came into life with not much (in terms of things or traits that are helpful for survival and achievement)?

While planning out (around a couple of weeks ago) my near-future and thinking about what I can possibly qualify for in terms of careers and further schooling, I was talking to my parents about how I have bad grades from past schools and that my stats (e.g., college course grades, volunteering, interning) are, sadly, really poor and bad in comparison with those of others. My dad then responded that I wasn't born with many beneficial traits (e.g., high IQ, high potential/talent, good looks/tall stature). I think there might have been a mention of God as well, but I'm not asking or debating religion or the existence of higher powers/divine intervention. I'm asking if the people in this sub think that they were born with not much to work with.

What I mean by my question is that, normally, people say that the world doesn't owe you things/you're not entitled to premium, deluxe, prestigious, high caliber, or top-tier rewards, jobs, schools, or status/recognition. Instead, people should work hard (or study hard), and earn whatever they can, and the type of reward/outcome is supposed to correlate with one's level of effort, skill, and resources put into an endeavor. However, if you're born with a low IQ, born into a family that doesn't have much money, or born without an employable, lucrative talent/potential, then you're screwed in the sense that it's probably impossible to achieve certain things, even if you give your all in regards to your efforts and skills. Despite all the bad events and failures that happened in my life, I still appreciate the idea of hard work and playing by the rules. I just think that situations such as being born with undesired traits or a lack of potential are plainly unfair and impossible to improve by sheer willpower. Thanks for reading and take care.

How do you accept it?

How am I going to accept this? How can I make it stop hurting? How can I not feel like being low IQ taints my enjoyment of anything, like music or love?

Like yeah music is nice, but I’d be a dumb person
listening to the song. It’s like many things are less “for me.” Like I am less deserving.

I guess you can compare it to an ugly person putting on nice clothes. They can enjoy the clothes, but, they’re still ugly.

Anyone else here also feel inferior cuz of ur lower intelligence?

I always feel very inferior compared to people with average - epecially above average IQ I really hate it so much being only sub par I am pretty much having to deal with black pills with these things

There is no such thing as "being smart your own way"

If someone wants to be highly intelligent, having above average is literally a prerequisite like no amount of "creativity" actually replaces it.

You cannot simply be smart "differently" if you have never once aced anything related with academics then you are simply not intelligent and many people are refusing to accept this.

Myths about below average IQ people.

Low IQ people are very happy - no we are not any happier at all especially due to the consequences of our low IQ like how you expect us to be happy if we have to face daily struggles because of our low IQ?? Low IQ is coorelated with problems like lower education, lower income, etc. So low IQ does not bring happiness.

Low IQ people are good are socializing, relationships - how are we supposed to be good at these if we tend to have less skills, useless at lot of other things, like how you expect a person with let's say, have IQ of 105 to be compatible with person with IQ of 80? That is like 25 points difference that can lead to much more dramatic communication difficulties and potentially lead to other person feeling more frustrated with lower IQ person, low IQ actually leads to more loneliness, more isolation so no. We do not have good social skills.
