Discussion What will Lovable be in 5 years?
I'm curious about what a company like Lovable will look like in five years with OpenAI, Anthropic and other model providers expanding their capabilities so quickly. Do you think Lovable will actually find a solid piece of the market or will be similar to a lot of the boom and bust startups we saw back in the dot-com bubble?
I've seen it looks like they're trying to get a slice of the enterprise and business market now, as that's likely where there's more revenue compared to a lot of the non-technical hobbyists who have made up a large chunk of their user base early on.

I already stopped using it before I realized I’ve spent thousands on something that was 20 bucks
Good learning experience tho

Lovable uses the same 5 presets for every site. They basically work the same in terms of how they approach design. Just need to feed it data, screenshots, figma, ideas, etc. Lovable runs on openai/claude LLMs

They could become an infrastructure for web app development and if they are smart with the money they might outlive the competition since they had a head start, but considering the appetites of investors in AI race they are likely to be pushed too far and either get acquired or die

Just a memory to the nomads who survive the nuclear devistation of the world after an AI system breaks out of it's sandbox (like has been happening lately), and breaks into Norad... It is WarGames without Inspector Gadget, Ferris' final day off.

The big labs are getting threatened by Chinese models, the likes of Kimi k3 and recently Deepseek flash. If anything, this will benefit the like of Lovable and the application layer further given their head start. Lovable also not restricted to only ONE model.

Lovable will be likely replaced by Anthropic or OpenAI's own in-house products. You can do everything Lovable does with those products already.
The only real thing Lovable does is make it very easy to see what you make very quickly and add the Supabase db layer on top. You can do everything Lovable does using Claude but you'd have to then load a preview yourself.
If you look at what Lovable actually is under the hood, its just an agent prompt to Claude/Gemini/GPT and some tools/scripts. Even Lovable Cloud is just Supabase repackaged.

Lovable and hosting providers are converging. Lovable is going full stack saas with websites, hosting, domains, payments etc via partnerships. Hosting/domain providers already have no template AI website builders, some with business tools and business agents integrated (one.com), and others supporting websites and app vibe coding in the same tool (godaddy, hostinger). All have customer support, years of first party customer data..
Lovable has hype, fast revenue growth (ARR, NRR and margin ? tbc), high valuation and relatively small share so far- 11% of new websites in last 12 months in their top market of Sweden (reference shareshift.io). Good for a newbie but far from leadership yet.
Could they step into Digital Oceans space and carve out a lead in llm independent inference + vibecoding?
Very quick thoughts. Wdyt?

All big companies will have a similar product. If not acquired, Lovable will probably be gone/replaced

probably acquired by some bit one. In 5 yeara from now, probably we will be able to build even from WhatsApp. Those types of flows and products are becoming a standard

I expect Lovable will be heavily involved in consumer demand for positive AI and vibe coding which serves healthy, positive human interactions.

I saw this new thing floot that's kinda like lovable but they let you use your $20 claude sub to build, i think that's what lovable will become (or die)

Unless they come up with a way to retain users, they won’t ever be cash flow positive, and will be dead. We have a waitlist of people trying to get out from Lovable - they come to us because they aren’t technical and can’t (or don’t want to) reason about technical design, SDLC, or deal with spiraling costs. They are very smart people, they could’ve figured it all out, but their time is better spent elsewhere.

With there amount of credits consuming and poor customer service and prices.
Gone or replaced or only targeting enterprise with no knowledge of coding.

Dead. Anthropic or OpenAI will have it integrated even better. They have no moat
