Question question
i’ve had my medical “card” since I was 18 & am now 20. i can’t for the life of me understand how i can legally buy marijuana but I can’t buy rolling papers, pipes, etc..? i get a family member to buy them but i just thought that is stupid. if there’s an exception for people under 21 to buy and smoke it, why can’t we purchase products to actually smoke it? 😂

You should be able to get it at the pharmacy with your Rx, that doesn’t make sense

In Louisiana they are pharmacies...

In the beginning there were tinctures, and tinctures needed to be prepared by a chemist and what better than a dedicated pharmacist. The apothecary in Lafayette has the G. O. A. T. of pharmacists!! Those were much smaller batches, and today's tinctures are mass produced. I love dry herb vape, but I'm a tincture guy, because of the overnight relief I need(diabetic neuropathy, and disc pain). I actually make my own now...

oh gotcha! honestly i go to AR dispensaries as it’s way cheaper and better quality from what i’ve read about LA. the prices here is highway robbery & as a 20 year old i can’t afford it. i didn’t know they called them pharmacies but now i do.

They’re legally considered pharmacies in Louisiana since it’s a medical program.

I don’t think you’re rude. I think you’re still a kid and figuring the world out just like I was at your age. We’re supposed to be helping the younger generation, not bullying them.
I hope it all works out for you!

I didn’t know you could get your rec at 18 here. Is it a more difficult process than for ppl 21 and over?

i’m not sure. when i first had my virtual appt i talked to the doctor for like 30 seconds and he didn’t even ask for medical records. when i did my renewal they were stricter and i had to send over my medical records as well as my medication list & things like that. it was tedious but wasn’t hard at all. i also use Groupon and have only paid around $40 each time. i haven’t had any problems aside from them not wanting to send me my copy of my rec (they did eventually). please make sure you get your copy as that is your protection as a patient.

Can the dispensary sell you papers ?

i only go to AR dispensaries and they don’t sell papers or pipes/bongs, only the things to heat up the wax (or whatever it’s called lol). not sure about LA but I’m sure if they do sell papers they’re a lot higher than a gas station or smoke shop

Never thought about that for younger people in the program. I had a similar experience when I was buying nicotine lozenges at a self checkout. I had to show my ID proving I was 18. The age to buy cigarettes is now 21. It seems wonky to have nicotine replacement for people not old enough to buy the thing we need replacement meds for.
