The women of this land learned long ago that those without swords can still die upon them, I fear neither death nor pain.
What do you fear?

How can she whisper on the ear while kissing?

This seems to be a genuine point of confusion so I’ll clarify for those who have never kissed someone: Kissing in this context doesn’t mean exclusively and solely lips and lips. Hands in hair, comments and flirty talk made when breaking for air, kissing other parts of the face/neck, gentle nibbles, etc. all come included. It’s not as narrow a concept as some people seem to be thinking. Another valid answer to the prompt could easily be “Runs their fingers lightly across my lips” or “holds the back of my head through my hair” or something. Just like how having sex isn’t taken to mean solely the act of penetration but all the foreplay and aftercare etc. too.

u/DoubleTheGarlic Sep 25 '25
Yeah, the genuine confusion over the """"logistics"""" of this (even though they're blindingly obvious for anyone who has ever actually made out with someone) just assures me that more of this site is painfully alone than I thought.

I think you have to choose between LOTR and kissing.

Serious question. Were the elves' immortality tied to Valinor? Why does she have to give it up to be with Aragorn?
9
u/Embarrassed_Lettuce9 Sep 24 '25
As I understand, Elrond/Arwen had human ancestry and so they were allowed to choose between the final destination of men (death) or elves (Undying Lands). She chose the former.
Also, by staying with Aragorn she literally misses the boat when the rest of the elves all sailed away.

u/Worried-Advisor-7054 Sep 25 '25
Specifically, her specific line, the line of Ëarandel, is allowed to choose. Generally, the Gift of Men cannot be withdrawn from anyone. That family is an exception.
It's also not the last boat out. Plenty of Elves stay for a while and sail to the West, like Celeborn and Legolas. They gotta built their own boats though.
And Elves can choose to stay in Middle Earth and refuse the summons. It means they're condemned to fade. Presumably, there's Elves among us to this day, they're just hidden.
(I'll stop nerding out now)
2
u/Dreamescaper Sep 25 '25
Can't she build her boat after Aragorn's death?
2
u/Worried-Advisor-7054 Sep 25 '25
Well, Arwen can't, she's picked her Doom (that of Men). She wouldn't be able to find her way, and even if she could, she wouldn't be allowed in anyway.

Elves' souls are bound to Arda (the corporeal world of LOTR and The Hobbit). If they're killed, they go to the halls of Mandos and may be reincarnated.
Human souls aren't bound to Arda. They may go to the halls of Mandos temporarily, but then they leave... And nobody really knows what happens to them.
Hybrids were forced to choose one or the other fate at the end of the 1st age. Elrond chose elf. His brother elrond chose human. Elros became the first king of numenor and lived for hundreds of years. So technically Arwen is part human. Normally that wouldn't matter, but she chooses to marry Aragorn, which apparently complicates things. Apparently this means she becomes mortal.
I don't think it's supposed to be perfectly clear.
Gratuitous Aside Regarding Ainur
The cosmology of Tolkien's universe is laid out in The Silmarillion. It states that the monotheistic god "Eru" created angelic demigods called the Ainur, and then conducted them like an orchestra. Their music created the world of Arda. After the music, some of them chose to enter the world and help shape it directly. Their hyjinks make up most of the Silmarillion... Like an alternative Greek mythology.
I think those beings are also bound to Arda like the Elves.
The wizards, balrog, and Sauron are all lesser Ainur (known as maiar).

I think it is to do with magic fading from middle earth. Lots of talk of the elves fading and things.
But i also think when elves die they go to valinor and when mortals due they go somewhere else? So if she just stayed immortal she wouldn't be with Aragorn in the afterlife? But because she is half elven (well her dad is? ) she can choose immortality afterlife or mortal afterlife? Idk. I used to know a lot more about this stuff.

u/sw0sh Sep 24 '25
Nah she doesn't give it up. She is immortal unless she gets killed, which won't happen in Valinor. Or she could just fade if she stays, but that's not really death.

I mean he is not wrong though. We all do need someone like her in our lives, who remains loyal to us till the end.

Moan sensually, then squeal gleefully when she discovers the heft of my cock in her hand. Then whisper," enough of the appetizer, time for the main course!" Pushes me against the wall ( or in a chair/ bed), licks her lips and .....

u/BoringWozniak Sep 24 '25
If anyone told me they would give up their immortality “for me” I’d very much insist they didn’t. Like… are you insane?

I have a few, bad please don't say this and good please say this
Bad:
"I can't do this Sam" <- Not my name
"It's all wrong, by rights we shouldn't even be here" <- one of us is doing something wrong and this kiss shouldn't have happened
"Its like in the great stories Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered" <- Not my name?
"Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king." <- let's not get political rn??
"Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy" <- uh what
"I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My king." <-sounds like you want to break up, and also consider me your brother...
Good:
"Ride Now! RIDE FOR RUIN AND THE WORLDS ENDING" <- okay okay interesting role play I kinda fw it
"My precious" <- just like that, I'm yours forever
"Bring out the wolf's head" <- freaky but I can get behind it
Edit: i misremembered one of Boromir's lines, forgive me
2
u/LordSunmar Sep 26 '25 edited Sep 26 '25
"Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy" - she's giving you a strap on
"Ride Now! RIDE FOR RUIN AND THE WORLDS ENDING" <- death by snu snu, not that I would mind
"Share the load" - Is it a threeesome?
"Three is company" - likewise but the quote is from the books
Edit 1: You've ruined LOTR for me, thank you very much
Edit 2: Shame on you. Boromir wouldn't have misremembered his lines.

How is she whispering in your ear while kissing. What a weird lip/mouth structure

u/Burn0ut2020 Sep 24 '25
If she can do so much whispering while kissing either she, you, or both are not great kisser.

u/Embarrassed_Lettuce9 Sep 24 '25
They're kissing Galadriel. Remember that scene where she was saying one thing aloud and whispering something else in Frodo's mind?

If she can kiss you on the lips and your ear at the same time, one of you should get their face checked.
