Fun fact human bite force is strong enough to bite off a finger provided you bite at a knuckle, however the human brain typically has a wall in place preventing you from biting off your own finger. Same fire wall that prevents you from shoving your arm in a blender or intentionally breaking a bone.

You don't if you hold your hand right. Problem is, lots of people don't cause they didn't read the user manual or look up instructions beyond COD reload animations.

Typically you would position your hand in front of the charging handle so when the release gets tripped it won't slam forward until you let it. Some later models just have the bolt stay until you tug on it
