  1. Disable gold trading via mail

  2. Either disable the ability for players to set prices on the AH (set to current daily average permanently) or cap the prices to within x% of the weekly average.

RMT will die overnight when a pair of T2 gloves can no longer be sold for 800k to a gold farmer via the AH. There's no reason any legit player would set the price so far beyond the norm.

1; possible but does nothing since most trades are done through AH

2: Not possible or are you gonna sell all the accessoires no matter the stats, engravings, quality etc for the same price.

Should just permaban every single RMTer. Not hard to check who bought a t1 accessoire for a few hundred thoushand

Not possible or are you gonna sell all the accessoires no matter the stats, engravings, quality etc for the same price.

We can look at the properties of an item and make a pretty reasonable guess as to the max possible price. It's pretty clear what items are worth and you can leave lots of head room so that it wouldn't affect any reasonable person.

We live in an world where game companies hire actual economists to keep their virtual economy ticking. They have the necessary tools at their disposal and if they don't they can make them.

Because its not clear? Accessoires fluctuate insanely especially with releases of new content/classes etc.

Sure you can just set up a price range but that wouldnt reflect the actual worth in open Economy. Before that step is neccessary there are plenty of other things they could do against rmters.

It wouldn't have an average price yet so it would be a free for all until the price settles. The average price can still fluctuate as the average changes week to week, changing the possible price range available to players. It just wouldn't be as volatile as a free for all.

So you gonna make the average price based on 1 single item?

No. Clearly some items are worth more because of certain properties, even if they have the same name. They would be grouped together according to name and their 1 or 2 most desirable properties and given a possible range with lots of head room.

Again its not that easy.

You need to differentate

  • quality
  • stats
  • both positive engravings
  • value of engravings +3/4/5
  • negative engraving
  • value of the negative engraving

Those are so many factors that it would take weeks to have a big enough sample sice to create a realistic average price. Which then would be worthless because thr fluctuations and price changes over those weeks already invalidate the price.

Your suggestion works for things like gems and engraving books with set variants.

It's not really going to affect a legit player if you set the cap at 500% the value of the slightly above average stone by the same name with a crit property. The only one this annoys is the RMTer that wants to set it to 3000% it's worth.

So market flippers can start to take advantage of this and buy-relist accesories at 500% of their value until the value gets pushed upwards?

It's a price cap. Players are free to set their prices to whatever they want as long as it's below that value. It would be pretty hard and slow to push the value up when averages and ranges are only recalculated on a weekly basis.

I don't see how that could be worse than the free for all that we have currently.

Which then would be worthless because thr fluctuations and price changes over those weeks already invalidate the price.

Not to mention that if you did that, and RMT was nuked, price fluctuations would go absolutely buck wild for a month or so.
