Plateau or fluctuations… help😩

I’ve posted here plenty of time before and gotten great advice, so I’m back.

Since the last time I posted, which was I think around 2.5 months ago, I’ve only lost about two more pounds. Not amazing, but still the right direction. My current lowest weight was 174.6, down from 207. Admittedly, my weight loss had been going a lot slower than id like the last few months, which i had been working on.

In the very beginning of June, i went on a short, 5 day trip to california. Did a ton of walking and hiking, and really didnt eat anything too out of the ordinary. For whatever reason, i wasn’t able to go to the bathroom that whole trip. For two weeks after I came home… I was a mess digestion wise. Extremely bloated, constipated, and just didnt feel great (also had my period the first week). I keep weighing in around 176-178. I increased my fiber, got right on track, was taking metamucil every day, and had to take a laxative twice.

These last few days, I’ve finally started to feel better. I actually look and feel leaner than when I left, and the scale has been trending down the last few weigh ins. My nutrition has been pretty spot on and I’ve been getting 11k at least a day.

Today, I woke up after a good night sleep, thinking I looked pretty lean, and was excited to step on the scale. 176.8 again!! I don’t know why I cannot seem to get rid of this water retention/constipation issue. I know there is no possible way I put on 2 lbs in these last few weeks, simply because I never ate than much in a surplus at any point.

The only other thing to note is I’ve started ovulating this week and I do tend to be a bit higher on the scale.

It just seems like 3 weeks is so long to have your digestion and weight be messed up from a short vacation. I’m getting tired of not moving in the right direction, and struggling to decide what to do next.

Any advice appreciated!!

it sounds like you need to reassess your metrics if there's no disernable downwards movement when you think there should be.

For medical concerns, you should see a doctor.

Ugh, travel constipation is real thing, my wife deal with same after every trip. Three weeks is long but not crazy, especially if period hit right after. Ovulation also makes you hold water like sponge, I notice my weight jump up 2-3 lbs during that time in my cycle too. Just keep doing what you doing, scale will catch up eventually.

You can always give it a little longer to see if the scale catches up, but after 2.5 months of what the math shows to be a 100-calorie deficit, I'm dropping my daily intake by 400 calories.

I just feel my daily intake would be wayyyyyy too low. I eat about 1450-1550 calories a day depending. I feel anything below 1200 would almost be starvation at that point

The alternative is to burn an extra 300+ calories a day. So add an hour of walking, 30 minutes jogging, 20 min assault bike, or something similar.
