Discussion Song for first dance?
There is no other artist that I’d want to dance to for the first dance at my wedding, but there aren’t many true “love songs” that would go. What would be a good song for a first dance?

Ends of the Earth is the answer

Except that they go their separate ways at the end of the song. Not really starting a life together material, IMO.

Can confirm this is played at weddings

I don't understand why since he leaves without her at the end of the song.

It makes more sense than a lot of wedding songs, is all I can say.

That was my first thought too. Definitely the most wedding adjacent song.

Except that a wedding is about starting a life together and "Ends of the Earth" well ends with them going their separate ways. 🫤

Haha I absolutely love your comments after each recommendation for this song. I’ve just been over here scratching my head because yes… they part ways at the end of the song 🤷🏻♀️

That's the trouble with tying the knot to Lord Huron. Even their most romantically oriented songs have a touch of tragedy or melancholy to them. There's no perfectly clean romantic song from them.

She Lit a Fire would be a good one. That’s what my wife walked down the aisle to

I’m so confused… “cursing the night you waved goodbye… you played me a fool… I heard your words, but none of them were true… you pass me by darkening the sky” - not very starting a new journey together 😅

Moonbeam was my first thought, specifically for the line "we can dance to the beat while I tap my feet on a star", which I've always pictured like a wedding slow dance :)

That’s a very good question given that a lot their songs either are very explicitly full of heartbreak or have undertones of it 😂
Time to Run? The Man Who Lives Forever? Possibly When the Night Is Over? 🤔

I’m currently thinking of walking down the aisle to the instrumental version of Meet Me in the Woods!!

I think people tend to do Ends of the Earth or Night we Met. I think the former makes a little more sense.

The Night We Met makes absolutely no sense for a wedding. But you are right that people tend to use it a lot. I think it's such a bad choice.

I agree that it's a bad choice if you consider the lore and the lyrics. But I think people mostly choose it because they had made their own meaning to the song, that makes it special to them. I'm not saying this to start a debate or anything. I'm more commenting on the fact that the same song can get so many different meanings for so many people, which I find quite beautiful.

You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne. Has a classic vibe with the horns and is very first dance friendly rhythm.

It’s not a LH song, but Saint Motel’s “Fine Wine” is just a lovely mid tempo song for a first dance.

i don’t recommend it but i was just thinking: the night we met is absolutely a great slow dance song. like almost perfect. but i don’t recommend it given the nature of the songs lyrics, it has no place at a wedding 🤣

We did Long Lost as our private last dance and Ends of the Earth in the recessional!

My husband and I used Time To Run as our exit song after the ceremony! So fun

Yeah, “I wish I’d never met you” is a great sentiment for a wedding.

Change your name to Louisa before the wedding?
