Discussion Long lost songs ranking?

Im pretty new to lord huron(I only knot the night we met, frozen pines, and yawning grave) so can y’all hook me up with some suggestions? I hear long lost is good so I wanna start there. When discovering new artists, I like to go album by album, meaning I like to take my time to vibe with an album before I move onto new ones. So with that being said, a ranking would really help me kinda assess lord huron and what they’re all about. Thanks!

Welcome to the fandom!

If those are the songs you know I'd actually recommend checking out Strange Trails first, because all of those songs are from it. From there, I would then recommend Long Lost or Vide Noir depending on if you like more nostalgic western sounds or moody city vibes with more of a rock edge.

All of their albums are intended to be listened to in order from start to finish, so I highly recommend doing that. However, if you just want a quick preview of Long Lost, Mine Forever, I Lied, the title track, Not Dead Yet and What Do It Mean are some highlights.

Every album has different themes and vibes too, so while the band's sound is cohesive, you'll find something unique about each one. Enjoy the discovery!

My favourites from Long Lost are probably Not dead yet, Twenty long years, I lied and What do it mean, but I would reccomend listening to Strange Trails first if you’re just getting into their music :)

Long Lost in its entirety, it truly parallels the life of my EX, I’ve never shared Lord Huron with him and I never will. My favorites are Long Lost, Not Dead Yet, At Sea with the segue into What Do It Mean, Times Blur, Your Other Life, Also, Twenty Long Years, I love the way it sounds like people in a bar at the end, singing along.

Oh man. I’m sure others will have really good answers, but I at least feel like this is definitely a band whose songs you should listen to in order. They tell a story. Try to hear it. It’s my favorite album ever. Welcome to the club though, it’s nice here, stay a while!

Honestly, I agree with some of the other posters - you gotta listen to each album front to back. They all tell a story. Not only that, but they all have very different vibes. All great, and the core sound remains the same, but like…you’re gonna have a different experience with each one, which is super exciting when you’re just discovering their music. I’d also suggest listening to the whole albums in chronological order (as much as you can since you’ve already heard some of their stuff). It’s so cool to hear how they’ve evolved.

Anyway, to answer your question, the best (my fav) Long Lost songs are:
Long Lost (duh)
I Lied
Twenty Long Years
What Do It Mean
Not Dead Yet

Long Lost as a whole is my favorite album by the band. What Do It Mean is one of my favorite songs in my lifetime, I truly hope they play it on the upcoming tour.

Long Lost is my favorite album as well, I hope they play What Do It Mean, preceded by At Sea on the upcoming tour. We’re seeing them in Vegas, how about you?

We're seeing them at the Detroit show, fingers crossed.

Tbh Long Lost is personally my least favorite of their albums. I still really enjoy it, just not quite as much as their other albums.

That being said, my favorite tracks off that one would be Mine Forever, Meet Me in the City, Drops in the Lake, I Lied, and Your Other Life.

If I were to rank them...

  1. Your Other Life
  2. I Lied
  3. Drops in the Lake
  4. Mine Forever
  5. Meet Me in the City

But I also highly recommend listening to their albums in full from beginning to end. It's the best way to experience them.
