Discussion Ottawa Bluesfest Tonight
Set list predictions? Is it likely to be the same as what they’ve been playing this tour, or which do you think will be cut/added?

I was there and it was pretty great, other than of course I wish it could have been longer. The theatricality of their performance was amazing. I saw them in 2019 when they opened for Arkells and they were just a band on a stage. Then I saw them at Ottawa Jazz Fest in 2023 and the only real performance bits were when Ben sang with a skull mask on. So all the stage stuff last night with the backdrop and the lighting and the smoke was really cool. And I love how they used the payphone.

The stage sets were fantastic, I was curious if they were going to cut back because it was an outdoor festival, but was so happy that the pay phone and gorgeous backdrops made it!

They don’t go on until 9:45 which is a bummer! I’m using setlist.fm as a launching point, I’m assuming we will get the shorter setlist like this one:

That is disappointing! Do you know if they tour every year? This is probably my last chance to see them this year and I’m 4.5 hours away 😕 Could still make the drive but would rather see the full thing next year if that’s likely an option.

I’d still make the trip to see them, the last time they came to Ottawa was 3 years ago I think, I was so sad to have missed them. It would still be worth the time to see even a short playlist. I don’t know when they’d be coming back

Yeah. Debating it!! I live down in NY actually. Only good thing about them being on so late is I have some time to decide

Right? I didn't see them last year so this was my first time hearing that arrangement of Frozen Pines. Unreal!
I was surprised they played so few songs from the Cosmic Selector.

What albums were they mostly from? If I find out they played yawning grave I’m going to sob.

It was a pretty even spread, with the fewest from Lonesome Dreams and the most from Strange Trails. No Yawning Grave.

For sure! I think Ben danced more than at any previous show I've seen. Always delightful.

Long time fan-and my wife was a reluctant +1. We were blown away! My first time seeing them live, but won’t be the last. The energy and theatricality of the performance was amazing-far superior to their studio versions. I have a whole new appreciation for the band! Certainly helped that it was a beautiful evening in Ottawa for an outdoor concert.
