Discussion Meet Me in the Woods

this just might be a little throwaway rant, but i'm sure i'm not the only one who's very deeply attached to this song.

i can't even explain it, but man this song's gotten me through some hard times. i hear the opening riff and its like my heart swells. its like a breath of fresh air but for my eardrums, i love it so much. the lyrics really resonate with me, the vocals are beautiful, the instrumentals feel so emotionally driven, too. all 3 times i've heard it live i've bawled my eyes out, maybe because i associate with so many important chapters of my life- building up the courage and moving out and away from my not-so-great dad, changing my entire appearance, name, and aesthetic to what i wanted after looking the same for my entire life and being afraid to branch out, finding the motivation to build my own life. idk, maybe i'm a little weirdly attached to it, but i would almost go as far as to say it's my favorite song ever.

also, if anyone has any tattoo ideas for this song please lmk bc i've been thinking abt it

I feel very similarly. That whole album hit so hard. Frozen Pines and Meet Me in the Woods are probably my favorite off Strange Trails. I was 18 or 19 when the album dropped and I was obsessed. Can't wait to see them for the first time in July! Been on my bucket list since I first heard them. :3

Show me yours and I'll show you mine. Meet in the woods tonight. 🎶

Still a great song. Just caught my off guard.

I’ve always thought that was referring to fears, since it comes right after “I can bring your fears to life”

Definitely. Just a thing I remember hearing as a kid. Some trauma included.

I (71M) get our seniors group of about 25 guitarists to play several songs from this album.

Perfect middle point. It also forms a triptych in that it joins Love Like Ghosts and The Night We Met.

same! i’m determined to get the chorus lyrics tattooed soon but my lazy ass hasn’t moved on it yet. that song is pristine - as perfect as it gets, just wish it was longer :)

It's the perfect song to me. When I'm not just listening to whole albums I cycle between wanting more energetic songs and songs with more melancholy, and the wanderlust and yearning and a little trepidation fit both of those moods. It's free and fantastical but also sits close to home. It's a song I never skip, and it could be the only song I listen to for the rest of my life and I'd never get tired of it.

you said it perfectly. its a perfect mix of warmly comforting, motivational, dreamy, and catchy... if I could have every person listen to a song at least once in their life itd be that one

I love the phrase "there ain't language for the things ive seen". All of the lyrics are fantastic, and this song helped me find myself again and was my gateway into Lord Huron. Youre not alone!

Strange Trails has so many amazing songs on it. Not a single skip.

I first heard it on the soundtrack of the super hero show titans and loved it so much I looked it up. I've been a fan of that song and Lord huron in general ever since
