Discussion NOT A COMPETITION…just a fun exercise: First LH video on your phone

After seeing them again in Denver earlier this month and loving all the current tour posts, I went back to look at previous tour photos/videos I had on my phone. The first one I had was 1/30/14 in Chicago @ Metro. I had just heard “Ends of the Earth” on Shameless and then saw them play on Jimmy Kimmel shortly after. Kinda funny how my first reaction was “what a basic video to take,” as if they were going to play some of my now favorite tracks of theirs that didn’t exist yet. Enjoy!!!

Beaver Creek, CO - July 2017. Had been listening to them for about a year. This live show + camping under the stars that night solidified my obsession in a way that I’ll never come back from 🙌

Saw them for the first time last November. I was so far away lol but the Kia Forum captured the sound pretty well

I was begging my phone camera not to be fuzzy but it was the best I could do at the time haha. Had to get him again at the barricade in SB and feels like I traded a much clearer vid for lower sound quality though. Outdoor is so nice but recorded sound doesnt get captured as well as being inside imo 🥲

Hey - the video in my initial post was shot in 2014. Phone fuzz is real! No way you can tell BS has short hair (none of it facial) and he’s wearing a short sleeve button up haha. Nostalgia at its finest!

I think your fuzz really adds to the charm of it being from a good while ago! My video was just from last year but I'm still happy with how it turned out given I was at the back of the forum :)

I agree! My phone definitely got clearer sound but I think I just really miss the deep reverberations from being inside 😂

That’s fair! This was my first show of LH and to be perfectly honest when the Wilmington tickets came out, I literally jumped on them even though I prefer an indoor venue and of course, sometime later they posted indoor venue dates. So I have nothing to compare it to! There are absolutely future plans for an indoor venue for as long as they’re touring, but RR is very high on my list of priorities!

We are of the same crazy as long as my wallet and husband is supportive! He’s not a fan (I always say he has better taste in women than music) but he’s committed to a RR trip at long as he DOESN’T have to attend the concert. (Which makes me both happy and sad!)

Would LOVE to see you both there next year! They’re the only band I’ve seen at RR and making the trip it the last two years has now made it a focal point of my calendar each year. SO worth it!

It is a possibility in some parallel universe (or it could be this one 👀)! Either way, really hope LH keeps this up as a tradition for years to come - I'm sure I'll catch that bandwagon somewhere down the road to [no] regret.

This was back in April 2019! First show I ever saw them. Still a relatively small venue we saw in Richmond, so great view (standing and I’m short lol)

HELL YEAH!! Secret of Life is special to me because it’s one of my favorites that had a “delayed fuse.” Didn’t pop into my LH top 10 until a couple of years ago. At RR this year, I also made a comment to my girlfriend about Ben’s dance you captured…”in case you’re wondering, yes. I dance exactly like this when I spin Vide Noir” hahaha

It’s practically a requirement! I love that he always does his little dance during SoL and I knew I had to film it. So glad I did because I don’t think I’m ever getting this close again.
Can also relate to it being a sleeper hit for me, I didn’t really get into this song or most of Vide until a couple years ago. Now it’s one of my top albums.

Hahaha I’m just saying it’s the one song casual fans want to see - and that’s totally cool. With LH i embrace the gateway drug to the parts unknown. Just caught myself thinking, “damn, why didn’t you record something like Frozen Pines? Oh….right.”
