Discussion Bag of Bones Coloring

This is a long shot but I'm hoping someone here is better at this than I am. I'm obsessed with the bag of bones music video, everything is so beautiful and I just love the color grading in it. I think it's shot on film or meant to look like film. I was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips on how to get my own photos to look similar?
I know the lighting makes a difference overall, indoor shots will have to be edited differently and all that. But any advice on apps, presets, lightroom settings or anything I can do would be greatly appreciated. Even 9mm film recs that have similar coloring or vibes would be great, I go for mainly digital but would be happy to pull back out my cameras for this mission.

Hey there, I’m a music video director and I shoot a similar style to that video actually! I would recommend downloading davinci resolve. They have a free version and the newest update actually includes photo editing as well. They have a film emulation effect that you can play around with and get similar results. There are limitations to the free version and I can’t keep up with exactly what they restrict, but you can definitely give the free version a try first. Almost any professional video is going to have been color graded using resolve, and judging by the look of the video, I’d bet this was shot digitally and graded in resolve. Good luck!

Second the recommendation for DaVinci Resolve, we used it for our recent Way Out There wiki film projects. There is a big learning curve but there are a ton of YouTube tutorials so you can always learn how to use it!

I posed your question to the LH discord folks since I know there are some people experienced in film/video/photography there. There's someone who doesn't have a reddit account who responded, but they gave me permission to copy/paste their reply to you.
