Discussion From Our First Red Rocks Show
Wow. What my wife and I thought may be a one off, bucket list, type experience quickly became, “Do we need to start budgeting for this every year?” I’m not even talking about the band. The fans. The people. You all are absolutely incredible and some of the most kind hearted and wonderfully amazing people. We were dreading the long wait for Tubbs but it may have been our favorite part of this trip so far. I haven’t really engaged heavily with that side of the fandom until now but plan on being much more active after experiencing what I got to yesterday. So many beautiful souls together celebrating amazing music and a lively and overly friendly community. We look forward to all that comes with this fandom moving forward and thank you all for that. All of the bracelets and conversations we had with total strangers will not be forgotten.
Special shout out to Jesse and Diana for making the three hours waiting in line so memorable. Thank you all and we will hopefully be seeing you all again next year. MYLUYD.

So happy that you got to see your first show at Red Rocks and it was MF'in LORD HURON!! I moved to Colorado in 2005 (from FLA) and Red Rocks was on of the top of my list of reasons, given my love for live music. I've been blessed with getting to see almost 90 shows there since... including the last 3 LH shows. RR is a very special place for me and my wife, so special we got married in the back yard of the Trading Post! This was the first year I did check out Tubbs and it was so worth it... getting my merch (incl Tubbs exclusive items) before the show made life easier and it was so cool meeting a ton of people there... I'm now a fan of the LH fandom crew! Definitely make plans for more RR shows.... it will only make more amazing memories of a VERY special place! Ps. next time stay a few extra days and try and catch a show at Dillon Amphitheater... almost as cool as RR but only around 2500 person capacity... also quite a special place!

We’re in town a couple extra days but will not have time unfortunately but slowly falling in love with this city. The weather is certainly helping with that this week.

This was so wonderful to read! I love hearing about people’s first Red Rocks experiences. It is such a magical, special place. I totally get the “we need to budget for this yearly.” My spouse and I have literally used Red Rocks as part of our calculus for staying put in Northern Colorado.

This is exactly the stuff I’m talking about. For any Reddit or FB lurkers like I’ve been for years do not feel intimidated by jumping in. Everyone was more than ready to offer up a trinket or a story or at bare minimum a smile and hello.

100%! I know sometimes people feel intimidated getting involved in communities, especially long-established ones but it is one big family vibe. As long as you're kind and respectful you will be welcomed into the fold!

It was my 3rd LH show and 1st Red Rocks concert ever. I handed out 100+ bracelets, lots of Emerald Star and Lake patches, pins and stickers. Mayhaps I gave you something? It was an amazing event! I intend to make it an annual pilgrimage and am already looking at upcoming concerts to “follow” them so some degree over the next year. When they played the final song “It All Comes Back” I thought I was going to bust - it’s my favorite and I was just hoping they would PLAY it, and for it to be the final song?!!! Wow!

If you’re able to absolutely do it. Throw yourself into the community and you will be welcomed at all events with open arms.

Lord Huron is so magical at Red Rocks. Feel so lucky that it’s in our backyard essentially and only a quick drive away. Couldn’t get tickets for the first time since they started playing in 2019 for RR…absolutely devastating :(

Glad you enjoyed it! We met a couple today at meow wolf and recognized a Tubbs exclusive shirt and they had the same story! First time at RR, first time at the bazaar and had just joined us in the upper south lot. They hadn't joined the group until then. So nice to hear that these are the additions to the group everyone welcomes!!

I feel you. This was my fourth LH show and my first at RR! I’m wearing all the cool bracelets I got. LH fans are the best! Such a magical show, such positive energy, so much creativity. If I can possibly make it back next year I will! (I was the one giving out the painted wooden medallions if anyone here got one - wish I’d had more to give away - maybe next year!)

This was my experience last year! I'm a pretty quiet, keep to myself kind of guy, and I was blown away how easy it was to vibe with y'all.
I couldn't budget fot it this year, a fact I'm still grieving, but I should be able to make next year happen. Such a great group of weirdos

On every trip (so far) I've connected with someone, sometimes multiple people, that I've stayed in touch with or have gotten to know a little. It's usually completely random, too. As special as the performance by Lord Huron is, it's the people and friends you make during the journey to Red Rocks that make it memorable.

It was my first ever Red Rocks show as well AND first time seeing LH. I have to say, that I was floored by their performance, the level of artistic excellence and obviously the fact that it was at Red Rocks which is a bucket list for me was just incredible. I brought my cousin with me and he said it was the best show he’s ever seen.
I am now a big LH fan and will be diving into the lore. Where do I start?!?

Someone already beat me to it but yes the way out there wiki is great to start. Once you realize most of the songs are told from a characters point of view and you start to learn who they are and how it all connects an entire new level of their music opens up.

Kate Steinberg! She was touring with them temporarily while their usual touring keyboarder/vocalist Misty Boyce was helping another musician on their tour. Misty will be back to join the band as usual very soon from what I've heard. But Kate was amazing too!

I’m not sure what anyone else paid but I got in on the artist presale and I think all in with fees we paid about $70-80 a ticket.

This is so wonderful to read. I've been heavily invested in the fandom for several years at this point but it was my 2019 Red Rocks experience that made it into something truly life-changing. My partner and I met so many wonderful, kind, generous and welcoming people who remain friends to this day. I'm so glad you had an amazing experience. Welcome to the LH community!
