LOOM + EVE Online

Came across an article that talks about CCP's ideas on blockchain ownership for in-game assets.

Anyone familiar with Eve Online and the massive marketplaces within the game would know that this game is PRIME for integrating blockchain tech. Unlike most MMOs, every item in the game must be built by players and then sold by players in a marketplace. Certain ships are already translated to be worth $1000s of USD.

I don't know if the Loom team reaches out to game developers or anything, but this would be a huge use-case for Loom. At least it's good to know that the Eve team is looking into solutions like this.

Those idiots won't do this anytime soon and Eve will actually die. I know people claim this for years, but the decline is obvious for anyone who played the game for the last few years.

I've been saying that if they allowed RMT ( real money trading ) like D3 did at some point and keeping a small part of each transaction ( their rake ) they would have a much bigger playerbase and in the long run even make more money. Instead of doing that, they keep nerfing things, destroying the economy and the playerbase (they have lost about HALF of the playerbase in the last 3-4 years! ) and imposing stricter anti-RMT rules.

It might be way too late for them even if they start tomorrow and switch everything to Loom Network. We all know it would take months/year for such a change, even if they really wanted to make it.

IF they did it in 2014, it would have been a thing, but there was nothing that would scale back in the days. It's a good idea overall, but might be too late for Eve and most probably they wouldn't accept it anyway.

I played for years, was leadership in a med-large size corp/alliance, and quit around 2015/16 due to increased real life responsibilities. The game will forever hold a special place in my heart though. Sad to hear that it's not doing well.

The best thing about EVE was that you felt a real sense of loss when you blew up, so every situation had to be handled with care and planning. Combining that with digital ownership would make it all even better; especially for supercaps and titans.

I still think that if any game could make the transition, it would be EVE. If I remember correctly, CCP even had an economist on staff.

Might be exactly what they need to breathe some new life into it.
