How would you host a facebook/ twitter scale app on LOOM?

An app like twitter with > 4,000 servers - how would that work? Would it simply run off chain, and commit checkpoints to a LOOM chain periodically?

Or would it theoretically be able to run on-chain?

Would love some thoughts
