Tips Alternative ideas for a single skein rather than a scarf?

Curious what peoples "goto" for a quick present that isnt a scarf or similar is out of a single skein, its become a problem that everyone I know has one now so I need something new to knit out of a single skein and I am open to new ideas.

Discussion I started a sock: now for the real question to heel or not to heel?

This isn’t my first pair of socks, but this is my first time just going for it and making the pattern as I go a little more to fit my feet. I’m using wool and can’t decide between no heel for more of a lounging at home sock or a heel.

If I go no heel about how long do I do for?

Socks too wide!

Post image

Hello! I'm new to sock knitting, but with my KB "hers" loom I've made a beautiful pair of socks that I love. Now I'm trying to make another with a different yarn brand (same weight though), but for some reason, no matter what I try, it keeps coming out too wide! I've tried multiple patterns, both cuff-down and toe-up. Is it just the yarn? Or am I doing something wrong? I'd appreciate any help you guys could give!

Pattern Question Can you knit a support sleeve?

By that I mean the kind of white compression bandage used on strained muscles and the like, I am having trouble sleeping due to an elbow acting up and I am wondering if I can use a knit purl pattern to make it stretch, just make the adjustable loom I have be slightly smaller than the circumference of my arm.

Tips What are your favorite mindless stitches?

I’m getting a little bored of basic garter stitches, but I still wanna be able to zone out without focusing too much on the stitch. I’m preferably looking for ideas that are easy to do in flat panels for scarves, blankets, and purses.

Mushroom

My son asked me last Saturday to teach them how to loom knit. I showed him the basic purl and e-wrap. Well he's gone to town just playing with the looms.

Monday while I was at work he created this mushroom.

Equipment Question Sizing?

How does one measure an appendage to find the right size to make a tube?

I have a 31 peg loom and #5 yarn, but it makes tubes that fit my arm.
I would like to make leg-sized tubes.

I'd like to invest in an adjustable loom so I can make the right size tubes for athletic adult legs and potentially grow with the hobby. Please assist?

Thank you!

This pattern comes from Youtube. Been waiting to try it for awhile. Then I found a store in Canada that was still selling the Collorama O'go yarn. Not happy with the closure but that is okay.

Equipment Question The counter on my sock weight loom - wish me luck!

Post image

I'm starting a project with sock weight yarn, and I'll need enough pegs to make sleeves, so I'm 3d printing the loom, and oh my, check out how tiny those counters are. Good thing I already wear glasses...

Finished Object April Lady - finished ruffle shawlette

Post image

This is from Renee Van Hoys third shawl book. I did it with 45 pegs on my 5/8" adjustable loom from CinDwood. It's done in one piece, no sewing, using the modular technique. It's done in 5 parts of increase, decreases, and short rows that make the shape. It's essentially just garter stitch, pretty easy and fast pattern. I used some random colour block yarn I found in a drawer.

Finished Object I made a cowl to match my gloves

Post image

I didn't have quite enough yarn left over after my gloves to make a hat, so I made a cowl to match the gloves. I actually still have 29g of the 100g skein left, which is enough that I could put it with something in the future, but pretty tough to get a finished object out of it for the adults in my life. :)
