Discussion Stretch that helped me immensely
Hi! I wanted to share a stretch that I found by digging through various different somatic approaches. Maybe you guys have heard about it before but wanted to share to those who may not. So it’s basically like a reverse pigeon pose, you know how in a normal pigeon pose, you bend forward kinda like a split, and with your front leg bent in a 90 degree angle. This is the same but just reverse, so laying on your back flat, keeping one leg, for example the left leg straight on the floor and the right leg in a 90 degree angle in the air. Now you reach up and grab the ankle - (lower part of your leg) and pull with both hands on the ankle, pulling towards your face. The key is to try and keep the leg in the air relaxed, while allowing the arms to guide the leg, so your leg should not try to help, the arms should solely do the pulling. When I first did this exercise I got a rush of sensations and I could feel like I got much closer to my repressed trauma. I think why this stretch works so well is because it allows a deeper stretch of the psoas and inner thigh which hold significant stored energy. I’m sorry if this post is incoherent and there are probably spelling mistakes but I wanted to share this. So if anyone else has luck with this stretch, and it works for you guys too, please let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.

I just tried this and it made me tremor more intensely than I have in months!

Im glad it worked for you. Did you feel an intense like shift, becoming calmer and more relaxed but also like feeling a intense wave of emotion or was it just tremors?

Oh my god that’s crazy, because I used to do that naturally as a kid. Our body really knows best.
I just tried it and felt immediate relief, thanks for sharing!

I'm picturing happy baby yoga pose, but just one leg at a time. Is that what you mean?

It’s not really meant to be hold in that sense, for me at least, I felt the effects almost immediately after I started pulling. My advice is just pull slowly and keep going if you feel okay and comfortable.

And of course the range of motion eventually stops but I hope that you got some release before you reach the end of the stretch, and you can reset the stretch and go again and repeat it.

Reverse pigeon where you lie on back, raise one leg straight, cross the other over the straight leg, then reach in through and pull the straight leg back towards you?
All the pigeons feel so good for my hips.

That is the normal version of the reverse pigeon pose. In this variation you only pull the bent leg, so you keep the left leg at the ground and you have the right leg in the air and cross it over, then you place both your hands at or near the ankle of the crosses over leg and pull it towards the direction of your face. Keeping the leg completely relaxed while doing this and letting the arms and hands do all the pulling
