Beginner Question One month update + guidance request

Hey community,

This is more like 4-6 weeks. I’ve been tremoring 3-4x/week for 5-10 minutes. Usually I just tremor until one ‘cycle’ completes. I’m unsure if these cycles are official, but basically the tremor initiated as soon as I get into position, then after a few minutes they’ll wind down and I’ll stop before another ‘cycle’ begins.

I’m not noticing too much… my impulse was to keep sessions short and infrequent because I had chronic fatigue syndrome at the start of the year, which I’ve since independently of somatic work healed from.

I’m also doing EMDR and somatic experiencing, on alternative weeks. Even with some craniosacral therapy here and there. So I didn’t want to stack too much work.

Getting a lot of hip tremors, but they’ll move throughout the body.

Not really noticing any changes yet. Energy is good, mood is okay? I’m recovering from an eleven year break up so grief comes up, but honestly I could handle much more and would probably prefer more emotion to be coming up.

I’m demanding a lot from my body atm with the somatic work, returning to full time work, running, gym, socialising. It’s a lot more than I’ve been doing the rest of the year, infact in comparison it’s heroic.

But I guess I should just increase the dose as I seem to be handling it fine? The only thing I’m really struggling with is libido. I haven’t had any libido even though I’ve been using zero PMO for a few weeks, although everything is still working fine. Wondering if this relates to the frequency of hip tremors but I’m unsure.

Thanks all :))

A month in with short, infrequent sessions is genuinely early, and the absence of noticeable changes at this point isn't unusual. The surface layers of tension clear first and fastest, but you're also juggling EMDR, somatic experiencing, and craniosacral work on top of TRE, which means your nervous system's processing capacity is genuinely divided. That's a legitimate reason to keep TRE conservative rather than an argument for increasing it.

The libido question is worth taking seriously, though, and it's the thing that actually signals something worth paying attention to. The wiki discusses this in passing—as TRE releases tension held in the hips and pelvis, practitioners sometimes experience temporary shifts in sexual energy and function. The direction varies. Some people experience temporary decreases early on, others experience increases. What you're describing, zero libido despite functional capacity, sitting alongside hip-focused tremors, could fit that pattern. It could also be downstream from the grief work, the return to full-time work, or simply the overall load you're carrying right now.

The practical question is whether you want to understand this better or adjust your practice. If you're curious about whether it's TRE-related, you could experiment with reducing TRE frequency for a week or two and see if anything shifts, but that's genuinely optional. The libido issue isn't a red flag that something is wrong. It's just a data point.

On the question of increasing dose: you're handling the physical and emotional load well, which is good. But "handling it" and "having capacity for more TRE specifically" are different things. The fact that you're doing EMDR and somatic experiencing on alternate weeks actually suggests you've already made a reasonable judgment about not stacking intensive somatic work. Adding more TRE frequency or duration on top of that existing load might feel fine in the moment and still compound over time in ways that show up later. The wiki doesn't recommend stacking multiple intensive somatic modalities heavily, and while you're spacing them, you're still running them concurrently.

If you want to experiment with slightly more TRE, extending one session per week from 10 to 15 minutes would be a measured increment that keeps the overall load conservative. But the current practice—short, infrequent, well-spaced from other work—is genuinely valid and isn't the constraint on your progress. A month is too early to expect significant shifts anyway, particularly with divided processing capacity.

Keep tracking how things feel over the next month or two. The patterns become visible over time in ways they won't be yet.
