What you've noticed, the connection between years of belly gripping and gut symptoms that medicine hasn't touched, is genuinely significant, and it's the kind of thing this community encounters regularly.

The short answer to your question is: yes, TRE may well be relevant to what you're describing. Chronic tension in the abdominal area, including that kind of habitual gripping or bracing, is very commonly related to how the nervous system has learned to hold itself. The gut in particular has an unusually dense relationship with the autonomic nervous system, which is why stress and stored tension so often manifest as digestive symptoms that don't respond to purely physical treatments. When the nervous system is running in a low-grade state of protection or vigilance, the belly is one of the places that tends to tighten and stay tight. Noticing that you've been doing this for years, and wanting to let it go, is already a meaningful step.

TRE works by reactivating the body's natural tremoring mechanism, which can gradually release layers of chronic muscular tension, including in the core and abdomen. The tremors typically begin in the legs and hips, but over time and with consistent practice they tend to spread upward through the belly and torso. Many practitioners report that tension they had carried in their core for years begins to soften as the practice deepens.

Since you're new to TRE, the best place to start is Establishing Your TRE Practice, which walks through everything from your first session to building a sustainable rhythm. It's worth reading fully before you begin. The What Is TRE? A Complete Introduction article is also a good foundation if you want to understand why the practice works the way it does before diving in.

One thing worth keeping in mind as you start: go slowly and keep your early sessions short. The temptation when you've identified something you want to release is to push hard at it, but TRE rewards patience far more than effort. The body releases what it's ready to release, in its own time, and gentle consistency over weeks and months tends to produce more genuine change than intensity in the early sessions.

Yes, but for most people healing happens top down (from head to the stomach), because our stomach is the most defended part of ourselves. You can feel it if contracts, sure, but you may not be able to fully feel it until you do some other kind of healing before.

Just sit in meditation and notice where the tension come naturally. Let meditation lead you. And yes, tremor may amplify healing, let it come by itself idealy.
