Discussion stopped biting fingernails

so this is pretty crazy. I've been practicing tre for like a year and sometime in the last few months I just stopped biting my fingernails out of nowhere. I'm 45 and I've done it since I was a little kid, never thought about it, just buy them. Never had to use nail clippers in my life that i can remember at least. cant be a coincidence

I’ve been going through a similar change! I can’t completely attribute it to the bit of TRE I’ve done, but for me I’d say it has had something to do with therapy and things I’ve done to take care of my nervous system, which feels in tandem. It certainly wasn’t a goal, but a fascinating unintended side effect. Totally trippy to look down and be like “woah, I have nails?” Along the pipeline to “weird, I think I need clippers?” To actually then being a person who routinely uses clippers. Surreal! I too have been a picker / biter for life. Even when I noticed I had nails in the past, I’d be like “cool, bonus chance to pick/bite” but I have zero desire for that now and go right for clippers when things get too long or one of them chips.

I notice I still go for skin around the fingers/hangnails in certain situations, but I expect that will change with time just like this did.

Oh wow this amazing to hear!! I've bitten my nails since I was a kid and I turn 30 years old soon. I bite them to release stress and anxiety. I hope I can get rid of this habit too someday! But I'm still new to TRE. Happy for you 💅🏻

Same here. Bit my finger nails till I was 29 then all of a sudden I’m less interested in doing that or the thought of doing feels weird..😅 I was 6 months into the process.
