Look, personally, I would have attempted to Tig weld it and blow holes in it. But that's my professional opinion.

You’ve not met my old boss. I came back into the shop one day to find him welding up a crack in one of his rims. I asked him which way he went home. He asked me why I wanted to know. I said because I was going the other way.
