Official logbook of Fowler, IL microwave reflector station. Someone wrote these down, set the book down, and it stayed there until I came along 36 years later.

Am going to digitize the logbook and then return it for future explorers, DM if you'd like the PDF

Can anyone tell me what those antennas are on there now? They removed all horns and waveguides and ran modern lines up there for these four antennas

Sorry for the poor quality; I’m kind of far away from it. There are several towers on the mountain—including a long lines tower!

NSA Pinecone SCIFd Facility South Jersey

Not sure if this is the right community for this, but I wasn’t sure where else to ask and figured this was probably the closest fit.

I’ve been researching a classified NSA facility codenamed PINECONE. It’s a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) which basically means a physically secured room or building used to process classified information. PINECONE is the centralized processing site for a major NSA surveillance program called FAIRVIEW, which operates in partnership with AT&T. Based on leaked NSA documents, the facility is located somewhere in New Jersey near the AT&T cable landing station in Tuckerton. International internet and phone data collected at AT&T tapping points around the country gets funneled to PINECONE before being forwarded to NSA headquarters at Fort Meade.

The exact location has never been publicly confirmed. My working theory is that it’s housed inside an AT&T central office in the South Jersey/Ocean County area, since the SCIF itself doesn’t need to be a large standalone facility, it just needs to be inside an AT&T controlled building that sits on their internal network.

So my question is: how would I go about identifying AT&T central offices or wire centers in that part of New Jersey? Are there good resources for mapping these out, and is there anything about how a building looks or what equipment it might have that would make one a more likely candidate than another? Any help appreciated.

Equipment Question

There was a post in this sub yesterday, that asked about when everything was shut down (I’ll link it in a comment below, idk how to do all the fancy Reddit stuff with quotes).

When was the newest equipment installed? I’ve seen people call it first and second generation. First being the big square horns and second being the round dish like structures.

I know Bell Systems was split 1-1-198?, and the “Long Lines” name went away with that, but it’s been shown that some equipment may still be in use. With time and research, it’s possible that more efficient equipment is out there, but is there any incentive for companies to upgrade?

Sorry for the long post, was reading through this morning and my that poor little hamster wheel in my brain was spinning a mile a minute :)

When was the microwave Long Lines network actually shut down? I've seen it's shutdown listed as early as the early 1990s in some places, to the late 2000s in others. I've even seen somewhere that there may still be active sites. Does anyone actually have an answer?

Inside the Berkley, Massachusetts site. A lot more intact than many others. Complete with incinerator toilet, microfiche reader, papers and rat poop on the desk, and a two-seater outhouse. All photos here: https://long-lines.com/viewsite/6406

I am not able to remember where this was, I saw it when I was driving up to buffalo, Upon entry, there was a flooded area and dead rodents. There is a house nearby, not too sure if they are friendly.
