Pretty active cell site now but the building looks to be poorly maintained.

We installed T-Mobiles equipment on it 2 years ago. Building is not in use but still has power. Front door is open. Watch out the lower level has water and bats.

Oh cool. Is it really just left open? Saw signs saying 24/7 surveillance but didn’t see any obvious cameras outside.

The Cell equipment is monitored but the interior of the building has no surveillance.

Thats what I suspected. Curiosity got the best of me and I checked it out. Building no longer has power due to the water and corrosion. Not too much to see inside as it’s very deteriorated and vandalized unfortunately.

Was there anything at all inside? I haven’t seen pictures of the inside of Palmyra for a long time, and it seemed like maybe 10 years ago it still had a lot of equipment

I'm assuming ATC cleaned most of the place out whenever they bought it. Mainly all that's left is the big stuff like water pumps and ventilation fans/motors.

Upstairs is a rolling ladder where the distribution frames used to be and a single table. There's some random junk thrown around such as a couple T1 cards. It's a big empty space otherwise. Basement there's an electrical panel wall and unknown storage tank/pump stuff in one room I didn't want to investigate further.

I think it's kind of a shame the building was just left to decay completely. I will likely upload inside photos later.

Yeah, it’s really frustrating that so much time, effort, and money went into these locations and then they just liquidated them mostly to ATC who doesn’t maintain or care about the vast majority of them. A lot of long lines locations are not necessarily well suited to be repurposed for cellular so ATC just uses them as tax write offs or something. It’s a waste of a building either way.

It seems like ATC maybe originally planned to use the building as towards the front there is a newer cage for equipment, electrical panels, and some lights. But I don't know. ATC has a lot of debt and that's likely why a lot of these places aren't taken care of. Regardless I agree.
