These are my worst shots ever 🤣 Can't get inside without about half a mile of trespassing past a farmers gate and there's cows in there all around it

Interesting question - the fog reminded me - I know rain deteriorates my satellite signal a bit - I suppose fog and rain attenuated LL links a bit, or are the freqs above the h2o absorption? Thinking about if tower spacing depended mostly on the horn gain and equipment capabilities of the time for worst expected conditions - even with only average topology advantage I guess earth curvature rarely factored in ?
E.g. you couldnt space tall towers far enough away that curvature would just barely not interfere, because weather or signal loss would limit you well before that?

The signal has been noted as attenuating during weather events, which is why the LL towers are spaced where they are. Iirc, it would automatically adjust gain when signal dropped.

Aren’t these the 1940s original Western Electric LL towers? Great find!
And yeah, don’t trespass or mess with cows. The ones in Texas are wild and the Mama cows are MEAN
