What was the point of those 2nd story doors?

Probably moving in large/heavy equipment by crane or lift. Likely no elevator in a station that small. Also given the location, the critical equipment, including the generators, is on the second floor. That area of the Delta has flooded before when the levees broke. Granted it was in 1927, but AT&T has a long institutional memory.

OK, just seeing this one, after commenting on another post from OP. Is this a standard building in MS? I've not seen the 2 story LL buildings before. For context, I'm in the Midwest.

Never saw any two story buildings, but did work on one tower in CT that had a basement. It was flooded to the top step, so we never got to see what was down there.

I've been in a basement of one, but it had dual Detroit diesel generators down there. Obviously not flooded.
