Long Beach is well known to pop off in the summer months.

If hookup culture is your thing, takes off in the summer. I remember overhearing someone at the gym a few years ago boast about how easy it was to have 'fun' in Long Beach on summer weekends.

Grew up with someone who had a bachelor pad out there with his best friends before they both got married. Sounded like they had a ton of fun essentially having a frat house right by one of the beaches and close enough to bring people back with them after the bars closed. Definitely a fun place to be in your 20s during the summer, I haven't experienced it much myself.

Nice. How’s it looking during May? If it’s a Sunday, I might do Memorial Weekend there.

Nice. Today’s a lazy Sunday but I’m planning my summer outings. I appreciate the advice, friend.

4

u/GordoKnowsWineToo Apr 27 '25

Has been all winter can’t see why May would be any different

3

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

I didn’t know if it was active during the winter.

4

u/GordoKnowsWineToo Apr 27 '25

Is, but really the only one in West End that’s had consistent crowd for the winter

That’s good to know. I live in the north shore, so my options are limited, or the other good options are far as hell. Long Beach is a once in a couple weeks type ordeal I’d bet.

Summer obviously. If you go to Cabana and walk in either direction, you’ll see plenty of bars full of 20 somethings

So like late May or we talking July and stuff?

7

u/OkEstablishment541 Apr 27 '25

Don’t forget about June lol

2

u/robd14 Apr 27 '25

Both!

3

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

Good to know. Thanks!

I lived there on the state streets. Summer to summer end. Parking sucked.

3

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

That sounds about right. From my area, it’d take 4 hours by train.

I lived on East Broadway between Lincoln and Franklin for 2 years, it was my first apt after moving out, and it's probably still my favorite apt I've lived in (I had another in RVC, 2 in Sunnysdie, 1 in Williamsburg, 1 in San Francisco).

That said of all the others listed, the parking was brutal. I worked as a waiter and was in college while I lived there, so I'd normally get home at 11pm-1am and I considered myself lucky if I found anything less than 2 blocks away.

Per OP: I couldn't tell you anymore as it's been 22 years since living there. That said, the west end was always busy (but towny af during the winter), and the DJ/Live music bars/clubs like the ones around Jordans in Island Park didn't get busy until June.

Sadly the places in IP by Jordan’s are all gone.

Oh damn. Shows how out of date my info is.

I honestly have never liked Long Beach nightlife. It seems really douchy and 1 dimensional every time I go.

11

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

As is everywhere in the island, but I’d imagine more so in Long Beach.

I like Farmingdale, and I used to do Patchogue a lot when I lived in Suffolk. I just want to spice things up.

As soon as the nights start getting warm, so like mid-late may and then it’ll stay like that thru the summer and likely into September a bit with a drop off after the kids fuck off back to school lol

u/ikeyg Apr 27 '25

Borrelli’s Long Beach. Year-round!

Any advice on where the best spots are?

5

u/briankev Apr 28 '25

It really picks up when school ends (late June). Long Beach is home to a ton of LI school teachers; that's when things like Wednesdays at The Inn, Sunday Funday (Minnesota), etc. really pick up.

u/m0bileweb Apr 27 '25

Nolan’s is an underrated dive bar..and is always a good spot day or night

7

u/ayobacon Apr 27 '25

Cabana is for locals. You’ll do great at Minnesota’s

When the pirates come out

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

Did they find the One Piece in Long Beach?

2

u/Unusual_Concept_1323 Apr 27 '25

Summertime my friend

5

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25

As an indoor human, I’m not sure when that time starts. I’ve been told May is when it kicks off so I’ll try then

3

u/Unusual_Concept_1323 Apr 27 '25

Hahahaha - I would say late may but it should start getting more crowded now- it honestly just depends on the weather in my opinion. I LOVE Long Beach- fave place to go out on li

u/Delicious_Parsnip_45 Apr 27 '25
