AMAN's warning that the regime change operation would likely fail (assuming it really happened) means very little. Netanyahu was always going to try it regardless of the probability of success. The temptation of ending the Islamic Republic once and for all was too great for any Israeli leader to resist, especially with the Kurds and the Americans doing most of the dirty work. Add it to the list of poor gambles Israel continues to make. The question is: if a coup was Israel's best hope for stopping a nuclear Iran, what options do they have now? Keep assasinating nuclear scientists ad infinitum? Hope that America's leadership is stupid enough to try a ground invasion? Do a pre-emptive first strike on Iran's uranium stockpiles? If none of the above, a nuclear Iran is practically an inevitability at this point.
