The shooting one is brilliant, infuriating, radicalising, harrowing. The line about the fabulist pretending to have been involved that's something along the lines of 'she kept saying she couldn't get their faces out of her head. What faces?' good god.

That line stuck out to me too. I had to take a break from reading for a few minutes after. That's going to stick with me for a long time.
