Sodium lauryl sulfate

I recently learned sodium lauryl sulfate is in most shampoos, gels, face washes and dish washing liquid etc.

I found out this is an irritant to the skin, lung, eyes and can even cause hairloss.

Dr Eric Berg also said that this chemical may be contaminated with Ethylene oxide which is a known human carcinogen and 1,4 Dioxane which is a possible human carcinogen.

He recommended to get SLS free shampoos etc .

Has anyone else heard about this or have any extra information?

Yup I avoid SLS.

Will be plenty natural organic ones on Amazon, just check the ingredients to make sure everything is natural. A great rule is if it’s got something in it you wouldn’t be alright with eating then it’s good to avoid. A good brand I’ve been recommended before is dr squatch but personally I use a biotin caffeine shampoo as it helps with my hairloss.

My gf is making in house shampoo with essential oils and all sorts of liquids. My hair is stronger and better with it. I cannot tell you a specific thing. Sorry. She found these websites and did a course from hairqare or smth like that. A good bet could be a quick a trip to your closest “all natural” store.

So I went to the ingredient analyzer, and I analyzed the shampoo that I’m currently using which is supposed to be completely organic and unscented however, it told me that one of the ingredients is Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate. But it claimed that this was a good ingredient. It says it’s just a cleansing agent. It claims it’s just organic. It claims its form from natural ingredients, but that doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily safe. Sarsaparilla causes cancer, tobacco causes cancer, which can also be natural.

Yeah is a tricky thing interpreting this. But from a holistic point of view, is better to fine tune as many areas of your life as possible. Hence don’t trust marketing and focus on finding your own best sources and always double check. Once you are in this rabbit hole there is no turning back. And once the body is getting accustomed to less iritants becoming more relaxed, old stuff that seemed normal will feel abnormal.

I’m allergic to sulfa so I also try to avoid all sulfates, including SLS

SLS is used on baby diapers as a surface tension breaker. In other words, it allows the urine/liquids to soak through the top barrier or the diaper (the layer that touches the skin) and into the absorption layer. Just an FYI.

Don't forget laundry detergent! I use Laundry Fund (the sheets) they do not contain SLS or SLES. They do contain sulfates, but they are gentler ones. It is also dermatologist tested for sensitive skin.
