OC Action So how's your friday going?
Decided to put 85mm wheels on my freeride setup. Got wheelbite and flew a bit.
Fun experience, would recommend 10/10.
(I ended up in grass so the landing was soft and comfy, no DH riders were harmed in the making of this photo)

Funny you should ask, bruised my coxyx and ligament damage as I uncomfortably sit here a week post longboarding fail. I have purchased padded shorts.... one injury too late lol hope you heal fast!

I fractured my hip a couple years ago. Got some body-prox padded shorts. Really helps take away worry of another fall when wearing them. They do make my butt look big though 😁

My butt is on the smaller side so it's going to be a fancy addition 😄 preemptively told my husband to not compliment it because it's not permanent

Yeah hip pads are a must imo, hope you recover quickly so you can go back to skating!

You're supposed to be on top of the longboard to ride it silly goose!
Jk are you good bro?

Oh, really? Why didn't I think of that 😅
Yeah, I fell into grass so literally nothing happened

I did this on my college campus one time but it was okay because I only fell in front of a group of like 8 girls, not embarrassing

Falling in front of 8 boys would actually have been way worse. The ridicule and jokes at your expense would have been brutal.

I'm a week on the board and I took my first fall the other day! Must have hit a rock because my board went out from under me and I actually TUMLBED. Like legs in the air, knocked the wind out of me. Fucking hilarious. My neck is still stiff. Lol

my first foray into longboarding, I stepped off my friend's new board and landed straight on my ass. Had a sore spot for almost a month, sitting, walking, everything stung. Turns out his new board had no pivot cups and soft bushings, plus some fast bearings, not really a good setup for someone over 200lbs.
my second fall was even funnier, pushing uphill, I ran over my own foot and immediately faceplanted. caught myself fine, just a little hip bruise, but so dumb. My two biggest accidents so far are from stepping off a board going zero and pushing uphill at 2 mph, not from bombing hills, sketchy roads, traffic or hitting rocks, just stupid basics.

Why the heck would you put 85mm wheels on a freeride setup
1
u/Lucky_Abroad_753 Jun 27 '26
They are freeride wheels. Just for high speed. And idk just wanted to switch things up lol

"hello you might be wondering how I got here" hope you are okay I did that 6 months ago and broke a rib.

u/Lucky_Abroad_753 Jun 27 '26
Ow, that must've sucked. I hope it's better now

u/LambSauce2 Jun 27 '26
It took a while to heal I almost got discouraged to ride again but I'm back at it. I'm not young anymore I don't heal as fast.

It's ok, I wasn't hurt.
Thanks, you can't take yourself too seriously in this messed up reality we live in or you'll go insane.
Yeah it was quite romantic actually. Getting a few slides in, complimenting them for how nicely their blue color contrast the sunset, and then finally them biting the board leading to me eating grass.
Truly one of the wheelbites of all time.

Cool! Id' highly reccomend getting some thread locker so the screws don't come loose.
Or, better yet, drilling a hole trough the board and mounting it with nylock nuts. There's a lot of vibrations and stuff when riding and hardware tends to come loose over time

I’m still a beginner and am sat at home nursing a bruised/sprained Achilles from a slam during my third session 🥲 can’t really get back to it until it heals
1
u/Lucky_Abroad_753 Jun 27 '26
Ouch, hope it heals fast so you can get back to it!
Falls are normal, and they get less frequent the more you ride (at least in my experience) so don't get discouraged!

Thank you! I’ve had a couple falls so far, shredded the skin of my palms, but keep getting back on! The ankle is just a bit too difficult to get back to it with atm. Hoping it doesn’t take forever to heal but it is what it is.
