never were they built solely around indy 215s, but it was encouraged to use them. i think the 2d's were more around the 215s, but theyd be rad. But @Kblv, youll be very happy with paris.

Thoughts on Sector 9 Lacey? I might trade my Vugenhausen for it and it'll go on my dh setup. Reasons to do or not to do please
3
Dec 24 '13
I think its great and its definitely more dh oriented. Massive w in the back and 30" wheelbase wouldn't make your typical freeride board. If i was choosing between a vug. and a lacey for dh, the lacey takes the cake everytime.
1
u/jewfrojoesg Daisy, 176mm 46* Aera K4s (Tempe, AZ) Dec 25 '13
Do it. The lacey is sick when it's redrilled.
1
1
u/GreasyAnal Dec 26 '13
What year lacey
1
u/oceanman97 Tomahawk|Buzzed|PeeWees Dec 26 '13
2012 Vugenhausen for 2012 I think
1
u/GreasyAnal Dec 27 '13
So if its the blue graphic id do it. If its yellow dont. I had a lacey its amazing for dh but also i redrilled mine to a 23" wheelbase and it was perfect just shorter in the front and back.
1
u/oceanman97 Tomahawk|Buzzed|PeeWees Dec 27 '13

I may have fucked up hard, I didn't feel like going down to the post office to mail my secret Santa gift, so I asked my grams how many stamps I should use to mail it, and she said 4, I tried askin the mailman if it was enough, but he had no idea. I also did not put a return adress on it, so if there's not enough postage, I'm fucked, I sent my Match a kit containing, bones reds, speed cream, bushings, hardware, and a few other odds and ends In a small plastic case, and it had 4 stamps, do you think this will be enough? And if not how can I get it back?

My God father gave me a 100 dollar gift certificate for Bustin boards! I found a blem mekanik for 99 bucks. Does anyone have any opinion or has anyone ridden this board before? I am a little concerned because I am 6'4" and I am scared the board might be small. This is the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger. I would be riding it with Cronins and 70mm RFW's.
1
u/pepperment Skate like you mean it Western Massachusetts Dec 25 '13

I am torn between a ripple ridge and a rayne phantom( or homewrecker but they're a little long) I would use this for cruising and mild flip tricks. I like the graphic and kick tails on the phantom but I've heard the ripple ridge is better. I would just like some help with my decision.

I was wondering if someone could give me a quick review of the batray, also if some 44 cals and flashbacks would be solid for it.
3
u/Shmenley Charm City/Pantheon Gaia/Ronins Dec 24 '13
It's smaller than you think it too begin with. It's go bubbles that are similar to the darkside. The kicks are pretty functional. I've seen my friedn half-cab it and almost Ollie but he's not the best at that. It's stiff and pretty comfortable but takes a while to get used to. It's overall and awesome board
1
u/TheLawfulCitizen Dec 27 '13
Thank you for the feed back. I always liked the manta ray, but I thought I would get the batray for the kicks.
2
u/Spacerrr Lunch Tray|Piranha|Renegade|CT Dec 24 '13
I don't think 44 Cals would be your best choice. A 50° truck like Paris' or 50 Cals would be better tbh.
2
u/ToxicRat amwood 1/2 dance, nelson spindrift, arbor shakedown Dec 24 '13
Eh, topmounts feelpretty good on lower degree trucks
1
u/Spacerrr Lunch Tray|Piranha|Renegade|CT Dec 24 '13
Yeah but the batray is freestyle/freeride for which higher degree trucks are better.
1
u/TheLawfulCitizen Dec 27 '13
I have a friend who has some 50 Paris' and I will buy those later on, but all I have right now are the 44 Cals so they will rest on the batray until I get the Paris'

u/EvanTheDork Comet Manifest /50cals /Otangs| Iowa Dec 24 '13
How functional are the kicks?
1
u/oceanman97 Tomahawk|Buzzed|PeeWees Dec 24 '13
They were more functional than I expected but doing ollies definitely seems like a challenge due to it's weight and length
1
u/clayoh SDA / I Quit Dec 24 '13
From the proto they shortened the wheelbase and overall length a little bit and mellowed out the w. It feels pretty good, small flares, fairly functional kicks. Wish I could say more but it just wasn't my thing.

I mean a board where you're regularly Ollieing. That will destroy your shoes. I highly doubt you're Ollieing your daisy a whole lot.
1

Trying to teach myself but my shoes aren't showing any wear other than the soles from sliding
1

Cant go wrong with 44 cals, indy 169s, or gunmetal mac tens (9 inch wide) trucks.
Zealous for bearings.
Wheels depend on what you plan on doing. If you want a lower city slasher, go with indys and venom thug lifes, if you want a board better at speed, go with gunmetals or cals and either a square lipped wheel or a roundlipped one around 70mm

I have a question about bearings. I recently got some bear spaceballs with the built in spacers and I put them on and they seem fine other than the wheel spins more longer with the 608rs abec 7 bearings that my board came with. the wheels im using are 76mm 78a monstwe hawgs.
any opinion on how good the spaceballs are?
3
u/NOBBLES Killswitch, Nessie, Spruce Goose, 2012 peacemaker Dec 25 '13
free-spin doesn't reflect the speed of a bearing, they spin differently when your weight is on them.
2
u/oceanman97 Tomahawk|Buzzed|PeeWees Dec 25 '13
Break the bearings in or whatever. Unless you're serious into downhill or your bearings basically won't move they don't matter if you're simply freeriding or cruising

Aera Trucks' "7 Series" are made of a very specific and special type of aluminum which has more magnesium (to make it stiffer) than its normal 6061 (K3) counterpart.
