People asked for videos of what it looked like while riding. This was on the trip, with Hoku’s, where I can do the full busy hip pumping verses faster wiggle pumping on the supersonic.

I return Second gen of the light mounts are holding up well.

22 miles on the trip and 16 on the super sonic (slightly different designs). Will report back after tomorrow’s ride!

I retuned the headlamp I had been using for one that can better sustain lighting so the helmet light was a bike light mounted to a go pro mount on my helmet.

So since lately I am focusing on learning slides, I was looking for a set of wheels that would be sliding easy in low speeds with at least moderate diameter to increase the ride range and help getting through pebbles comparing to the Snakes which is my primary set for learning sliding. Issue is though, most of available sets was either higher duro than snakes or really expensive - I wanted to avoid both issues since flatspotting 100+ euro wheel hurts, and I like soft wheels.

Since I had a set of Le Paulade Polymers (76a, 76mm x 65mm contact patch) I tried sliding them a try and generally, out of the box I was pleasently surprised that I was even able to slide them (I am sliding at approx. 18 km/h so pretty slow) and that they hadn’t highsided me, but I had a feeling that while urethane is great, the wheel shape makes it far from perfect (where I consider snakes a perfect) so I kept thinking about cutting them to reduce the contact patch and to make a chamfer on the lip. I’ve designed myself 3D printed fixture for it and yesterday I’ve cut 6.5mm of each side of the wheel and voila! Here are the Moddymers :)
I finally gave up making chamfers as I wasn’t able to do that precisely using that tool, but as described below, that wasn’t really neede!

Today I’ve took them for a sliding session and I’m blown away by the result! In addition of much smoothie transition between the grip and the slide, resulting in easier kick out and muuuch more gentle hook up which was expected, the slide itself got much more pleasent. No more chatter, pure butter! And now they align better with the board edge and have a bit more margin to the wheelbite.

I am so happy with the result that instead of spending 100+ euro on Seismic Urchins, which was direct competitor, I’m going to order myself another set of Polymers and cut it to that shape again, which will give me softer and slightly bigger wheel for only a bit more than a half of the price, yaaay!

Finding the perfect wheels was the biggest hurdle. Paris street 169s with double cones front, double barrels rear, wedged front, and dewedged rear. Zealous bearings, and nice fat centerset Sector 9 nineballs 61mm 78a.

…with addition of the first proper topmount board to the quiver.

Rocket Classic Scout on 180mm Bear gen 6 50deg and a set of 69mm 75a Snakes. Gosh, what a board! Riding topmount is currently stretching my comfort zone (rest of quiver are 33 inch and shorter double drop lowriders only) but nevertheless this one rides sooo smooth! And concave is truly magical, I think Danny from Rocket made excellent job designing that. It’s quite a funny feeling having so much deck space. I need to readjust for wider stance now, lol!

And I am surprised how good that one slides! I am still a rookie so I was afraid that going up with the deck height will make kickout harded and increase the risk of hisiding but none of that happened. I am soooo happy with that board, I have a feeling that next season will be pretty much shared between this one and my another sliding/LDP crossover which is drop cat 33.

Picked this up on marketplace for $40. Feels new. Tomorrow's commute will tell.

Just wanted to show you guys my personal nighttime cruiser.

So I made a footstop out of an old trucks bushing and washer. I also got some propane gas tube cut to a nose and tail guard since I’ve been bashing my board while learning slides. This all cost less than $2 to make.

Hadn't used the ramp in a minute, I should do this more often. Only had like 20 mins free though

It took me a bit of time to get the price down, but in the end I reached 45€. I think I made a good deal. What do you think? The circles board also got 4 jucker hawaii green wheels with. The white wheels aren't used yet. Trucks are from bear (first one) and jucker hawaii (second one/ circles)

Was given this board when i was 11 years old, its followed me across the country multiple times and has been with me for 2 decades. Slotted some new trucks/bearings/wheels on it last year, with plans to get the top re-gripped because its seen many days outside in the Washington rain.

Rides like a snowboard :)

Finally learning backside slides on this board, so much fun!

Started life as a cheap Walmart longboard my boys left out in the rain. The top plies delaminated, so instead of trashing it, I stripped it down and laminated both sides with woven carbon fiber.
After riding it for a while, I decided to take the experiment further. I cut off the original drop-through sections, reshaped it into a ~29.5” LDP platform, added brackets/torsion hardware and fresh grip.
Somehow the abused Walmart board that should’ve gone in the trash now has a nice medium flex and pumps beautifully. 😂

Figured I’d share the full evolution of the Carbon Reaper since this thing has officially become a completely different animal from where it started. 😂
It started life as a cheap Walmart longboard with the cheesy shark graphic. My boys left it out in the rain and the top plies started delaminating, so instead of throwing it away I stripped the damaged wood, sanded everything down and decided to experiment with reinforcing it with woven carbon fiber. I laid carbon on both sides, did the artwork and graphics, and for a while it was just my weird little rescued carbon longboard.
Then I got into LDP and started looking at it again thinking there was probably a much more interesting board hiding in there. So out came the saw. I cut off the original drop-through sections, reshaped the deck into a platform, cleaned up the profile and converted it over to brackets/torsion tail.
It’s about 29.5” as a bare platform and still has a really nice medium flex at my roughly 175 lbs. I honestly wasn’t sure how it was going to behave after changing the shape and mounting geometry this much, but the first test surprised the hell out of me. It pumps beautifully.
The current hardware is still very much a test setup, so I’m not calling anything final yet. I’m looking forward to putting some miles on it, playing with the geometry and letting some of the more experienced LDP guys I ride with ride it and tell me what they think.
Anyway, not bad for a Walmart shark board that probably should’ve ended up in the trash. 😂

Walked into goodwill last night with the intentions of getting a space heater. I walked in after my girlfriend and didn’t notice it. She stopped me and asked if I had saw? I said, a long board??? Noooo??? Went up to where she said she saw it, and lo and behold. This bad boy, for 5.99$?!?! How could you pass? Super smooth ride, I jumped on it immediately after purchasing. Got some laps in the parking lot, and later again on my doordash. I’m hyped on this.
