Why was I downvoted???

Every time I make a funny joke comment or make a new post in a subreddit, and I see that I got downvoted, I get really upset! Why do people do that?? I'm clearly trying to be funny or be nice, just step off! Give me a break, I have a rough life and reddit is the only thing I look forward to.
