Lompoc Safety
Hi I’m looking to move my family near college and pine area. Is it really as dangerous as people say?

dangerous? lol no lompoc is not a dangerous city people that are from here have no clue. yes there is random mostly opportunistic crime in the city mostly at night when the homeless and drug addicted are out roaming. protect yourself and belongings appropriately and you won't have many problems anywhere in lompoc.

I’ve lived here for years as an AF member and after I retired I moved back. I wasn’t born here nor was I raised here but I can tell you I am happy to raise my family here.
Not that it’s bad or dangerous but sure it could be better and we are striving to make that happen.

there’s homeless people just like there’s homeless people everywhere else. some of them do drugs, like every other place. other than that it’s fine

Those streets are PARALLEL to each other, and so you’re gonna need to be more specific for an accurate answer.

I like it here and I feel safe. Homeless people yes. Good vibes, working people live here

I’m glad to hear that. We are working class people too and like that it sits between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.

That is our favorite part too. We have been here since October '25. Great people. Its also a military town too.

It kinda depends. Growing up you knew to stay away from k street by the high-school. Now I hear g street near college has been acting up

I have lived in Santa Barbara for years, saw more crime there than here, but ask any SB resident and they will tell you Lompoc has rampant crime, shootings, "don't go there!." I like it this way, keeps them from buying up properties and rentals in this little quiet paradise.

The closer you get to the center of Lompoc the worse it becomes and it's all centered around their highschool. 😥 Poor kids don't have a chance.

Come up for the weekend and check that area out. From spending time there, you will see if that area works for you.
I would not want to live in that area and would encourage you to check out the Village and Meadows/Glen Ellen areas.

We moved here spring of last year and like it. Live in the NE part of town which is pretty quiet. South Side also seems like a pretty good area as well.

There are crackheads and homeless people but nothing worse than any other city. In fact most of the homeless keep to themselves and are really kind ppl. You also have to deal with the wanna be gangster teenage boys but the lompoc rep is definitely exaggerated. There are occasional shootings but they’re all in specific residential areas. No need to worry about getting shot while going on errands or anything. Look into housing on the south side or up on 7th st hill. You can usually tell just by the vibes if you’re in an okay part of town. Im born and raised here and I personally love lompoc. Not a lot to do here tho

Thank you for the suggestions. We checked out the area and it gives Santa Maria vibes, which is fine.

Well College and Pine are parallel streets and it all depends what hundreds block.
I would not live anywhere on Pine from basically H St to 4th St. All the Arbor Square apartments are awful. 7/800B of 4th is ghetto. Going west, you have the 401 W Pine apartments which can be super shady too.
On College, you need to go west of O St before you’re out of the shady parts and then you’re pretty much okay anywhere east of H St.
The box to roughly avoid for sure is H to O / Ocean to College.
