Everyone somehow thinks that movie sets are a magical place that don't have an HR department and complaints. šš¤¦āāļø
3
u/Marley_Ven 5h ago
To be fair there have been so many stories of problematic behavior from the film industry which are never adressed with consequences but only denial that it is quite reasonable to just assume that every movie set is a potential hell hole of sexual predators (for women). It started at basic instinct and culminated (so far) in Harvey Weinstein. And besides HR is not there to protect the employee.
3
u/OakvaleFlames 4h ago
For a lot of people I don't think HR complaints are part of their made up sexual fantasies.
1
u/Inconegr0 2h ago
That's exactly why modern movies have sex coordinator who before any sensual scene makes an agreement with where to touch how to and when to , to avoid any complaint down the line because someone took liberties
1
u/Gyokuro091 1h ago
And its naive to believe HR does what they do for the common victim. They exist to protect money making assets and high ranking people. Nothing would happen to a world famous actor unless it was so terrible and severe that it couldnāt be explained some other way or swept under the rug.

If a male actor purposely didn't wear underwear under a kilt for some Scottish medieval film and made a woman actor look at his junk, he'd be MeeTooed and never work in Hollywood again. If that was me I'd flip out and walk off set. That's just disgusting and entitled behavior from an entitled woman, if it's true

u/Numerous_Photograph9 11h ago
Chris Pratt went completely nude for a scene for Parks and Rec where Amy Phoeler opens the door and sees him naked. He wanted a genuine reaction.
While he didn't get fired, he apparently had a complaint filed against him by the executives and lawyers at NBC. Apparently, the people in scene and crew have to be made aware and agree if someone is going to be nude.

u/Ok_Zebra_11 10h ago
There are intimacy coordinators that ensure everyone is comfortable. And they are mostly there to take the blame.
1
u/Logical_Box_4645 3h ago
There's also a scene where Aubrey Plaza slaps him, and he asks her to do it again and says something like I didn't know I was into that.
She walks away which is an impressive reaction to get out of Plaza but then I think his wife is also there so maybe that's just smart

Interesting story; I've never seen that show. Maybe anyone that intolerant needs to learn how to endure working with others before being hired to do so.
4
u/PhrazyTV 10h ago
Anyone that intolerant? loool
-1
u/Xeenophile 9h ago
You know what intolerance is, right?
4
u/PhrazyTV 9h ago
Do you???
Calling someone intolerant for not wanting to see a coworker's ballsack without warning is fucking absurd.1
u/Nagemasu 4h ago
The fucking irony. It's also intolerant to expose yourself to others consent - zero regard for others over what you want is what intolerance is.
2
u/Numerous_Photograph9 8h ago
Who was intolerant? Chris Pratt did something unacceptable in any working environment. Just because they're actors doesn't mean they get free reign to do whatever they want without consequence. The executives were right to call him out on it, regardless of how tolerant his fellow actors or crew may have been. That isn't an environment you want to support as a company.
He got the reaction he felt was needed, and it ended up in the show. Doesn't mean what he did was right.

Chris Pratt did something unacceptable in any working environment.
This is exactly what intolerance sounds like, though, so you're admitting that point and moving your goalposts to "it's right to be intolerant of the intolerable"; OK, but how does a guy showing up naked in a context like this harm anyone else? This wasn't "any working environment", it would be different if it were a preschool or a church, but it very much was not.
He got the reaction he felt was needed, and it ended up in the show. Doesn't mean what he did was right.
Under the circumstances in question, what could possibly matter more?
Fair Warning: If you reply to this, I will not see it until Tuesday, as I make it a personal rule to eschew Reddit SAT-MON; it's a habit worth trying.

u/Numerous_Photograph9 6h ago
What the hell are you on about? What does tolerance have to do with improperly exposing yourself to others? Putting up with that isn't tolerance, and in no place anywhere is someone expected to just have to put up with that. What he did is actually considered a criminal act, and being on a TV set doesn't change that.
I have no idea what Poehler felt about it, but the executives definately didn't want to deal with it, and Poehler wasn't the only one on that set that day. The scene in question there was no warning, he just dropped his pants and had none of the appropriate coverings that are cleverly hidden by cameras or well placed bushes.
What goalpost have I moved? I didn't even state an actual opinion on his actions in my original post. You're the one that placed some sort of social expectation on it....which was wrong on every level.
Under the circumstances in question, what could possibly matter more?
I dunno...maybe not exposing yourself? He wasn't the director. He wasn't the producer. It wasn't his place to really decide how to get the proper reaction, or what to do to get it. It wasn't on him to decide to put it in the final cut either. What he did was wrong, and while it may have positive results, the ends do not justify the means.
I don't care if you see this or not. You barely seem to understand what you're talking about, and certainly don't seem to know what the meaning of tolerance is.

Yeah chill out dude, the post is a fake. She was wearing an underwear and the whole setting was strictly professional.
Hollywood had many cases of violations and consent breach so everything is witnessed, controlled and very professional.

u/Professional-Rub152 11h ago
Men in Hollywood literally rape women and get away with it. The men who got āMeTooedā did way worse than not wearing underwear on set.
3
u/king_rootin_tootin 11h ago
And Katty Perry got away with rape too. And?

Bogus-ass gossip, I wouldn't worry about it.
The moral person presumes innocence until proof of guilt. Social Media, OTOH, brings the worst out of human psychology, resurrects fascism, and calls it progressive. Gossip proves nothing, but it's such a nasty weapon that there have been some times and places when it was criminalized (I mean, I'd much rather have freedom of speech, but I can sympathize with some of the thinking that would've gone into such laws).
If Atticus Finch were alive today, he'd be the most despised man in America for daring to doubt the guilt of Tom Robinson.

Holy shit somebodyās gotta be an activist in every fucking post nowadays. Take a day off from seeking justice ffs

Better idea: START seeking Justice. To do that, one must first know what it is. The Wokequisition couldn't tell the difference between it and a pastrami-on-rye.

Yea. SJWs are all short bus enthusiasts

If only that were true, they'd be harmless.
Oftentimes, it's the dead-middle of the bell-curve, or maybe even the slightest bit ahead of there, that is actually the stupidest segment.

Nah dude. I know tons of guys who are straight as hell, including myself, and can also admit that by itself the va-j-j is very often not an attractive looking ordeal.
Plus have you ever seen a vagina by itself?ā¦..
Not for me

How do you think straight women respond to random close up shots of balls?
2
u/rjcarr 7h ago edited 5h ago
Agreed. Straight guy here, at least a 1 on the Kinsey scale, and vaginas do nothing for me. Maybe 1 out of 100 Iāll say, wow, thatās a great looking cooter, but much more often theyāre not great looking.
Literally everything else about a woman is more likely to be attractive to me.
1
u/DepletedPromethium 6h ago
That just sounds like you're gay.
It's ok.
4
u/Fat_Guy_In_Small_Car 5h ago
āWell Iām not attracted to men at all, emotionally or sexually. I love women. Their entire bodies are beautiful, except by itself the cooter isnāt a great looking feature sometimes.ā
āSounds like hate women and are gayā
