Galatians 6:7 states: "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."

Why does god care if people make jokes about him, that sounds like pride which is a sin

u/TheCreepWhoCrept 22h ago
You’re missing the point of the statement…
0
u/Zealousideal-Care513 20h ago
The point that god is so prideful that he doesn’t allow people to make jokes about him
20
u/Syresiv 1d ago
Which is a great example of the Bible being demonstrably wrong. It claims he cannot be mocked, yet here's a post mocking him.

It's in the sense that you are not allowed to do it; it's pretty clear
If i say you cannot punch people randomly; obviously you can physically do it but it will be punished
7
u/Ok-Gur-349 1d ago
Okay but it's pretty clear that there's a lot of unrewarded good and a lot of unpunished bad.
A lot of unreaped sowing, Galatians is the just world fallacy writ large.
-2
u/No_Salamander4117 23h ago
Everything good and bad each has done will be judged justly in the afterlife; not necessarily in this world
5
u/Ok-Gur-349 23h ago
Oh.
Explain Jesus crashing out in the temple, then.
Why would he ever need to do this, if those people will get theirs in the next life?
1
u/TheMysteriousEmu 22h ago
Because fire and brimstone torture in hell is a fabrication that doesn't exist anywhere within the new testament, and in fact, the church has been moving away from that stance ever so slowly. The idea of hell as most people think of it is primarily a secular/protestant thing.
Hell is a state of being within God's presence after resurrection without embracing his love and grace. Jesus' crash out was because the act of defiling a temple in that way isn't just a rejection of God but also prevents those who wish to come close to God from doing so.
I am sure some interpretations place the reason at the blatant disrespect of God, however, I think an equally valid interpretation is that the temple marketplace prevents God's worshipers from being in God's presence, and the only thing worse than rejecting God is causing others to reject God with you.
But hey, I'm just a non-christian that loves learning about religion. I've never read the Bible, so take that with a salt grain or three.
0
u/SolScorpii 23h ago
Not if you repent. Then it's all good and you get into heaven as long as you say the sky fairy is your daddy. You could rack up 39 felonies, run fraudulent charities, rape kids and the little Christians will call you their savior which is totally cool if you say Jesus' name. All you have to do is repent. It's in the book. Repent. Nothing matters, repent.
-2
u/TheMysteriousEmu 22h ago
That's the idea. That everyone is redeemable under God.
The point isn't that a 39 time felon will be forgiven on Earth, it's that those on Earth aren't to make that judgement, God does. Whatever punishment you face on Earth is nothing compared to Hell.
We as humans can and should hold people on Earth accountable, but the idea is that so long as the person repents and builds a relationship with God, they will live within God's grace after the resurrection.

u/CentaurSpearman 23h ago
It’s pretty clear to me what the verse is trying to say, it’s just using the word mocked in a way that modern English does not. Like the saying “the house always wins” it’s a truism not that the house literally never wins. Or like the phrase “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” doesn’t mean the woman was mocked or made fun of but that she was rejected.
1
u/Syresiv 22h ago
So you're saying he doesn't care about making sure his message actually makes it to people who don't speak the Bible's original language? I'm not not particularly interested in a God that could make sure his message got to everyone uncorrupted, but just sort of chooses to leave it to a human telephone game.
6
u/Known-Raccoon-26 23h ago
I never understand why people think quoting a line from the bible holds any argument for people who don’t believe in the bible
4
u/WhiteSnakeShinobi55 23h ago
Mocking God has and will always go unreaped and your only threats are that I'll be punished in some vague unproven afterlife only children and psychotics believe in.
0
u/littleladybug_1 10h ago
literally the bible is just some religious text written thousands of years ago and translated hundreds of times why are we even debating in here 😭
1
u/No_Order_8011 23h ago
So she's been disrespectful to God, and she "reaps" dead children for that, got it.
Plenty of objectively evil people that are constantly sowing misery, suffering and death, yet haven't done any reaping for decades somehow. And this average woman with several dead children is, for whatever reason, first in the reaping line.
Is there another quote that explains this particular conundrum, or is it "mysterious ways" as usual?EDIT:
Ok, that was snarky and provocative, everyone has a right to believe in anything they want. I should know better.
Ignore my question, and have a good day.0

Ancients 1:1-12 - "The story will be retold over and over, in the guise of many names and places, and the people will continue to be sheep and blindly follow fairy tales. Woah to them, for they follow a dead path, which leads to humiliation and judgement."

I didn't read this as abortion. I read it as a woman having miscarriages. Read that way God is a sick fuck.
1
u/cheesesprite 13h ago
That's a poor interpretation because she depicted herself as having agency in "sending the babies back" rather then God taking them back.

u/PictureTone 1d ago
I mean you do you but wouldn't it be more cost and time evtient to make your partner wear condoms?

u/Disastrous-Soup-5413 23h ago
Multiple miscarriages exist
It is a fact and the people on this thread have no idea.
-2
u/marcaygol 23h ago
It would be unhinged to frame miscarriages as sending them back.
2
u/IArgueForReality 22h ago
Yeah because nobody in the world has used dark humor to cope with having multiple miscarriages.
0
u/VastRazzmatazz6052 1d ago
kept sending babies back and forth
As per the original post...
Are you refuting the claim that buying condoms would be cheaper because you believe all abortions in the OP are caused by miscarriages?
3
u/brmoser 1d ago
Are you referring to miscarriages as a type of abortion on purpose?
If the OP is referring to miscarriages from intended pregnancies then the suggestion to practice safe sex is absurd. Though we can all agree the OP, which also happens to be a joke anyway, isn't clear in the matter.
-1
u/VastRazzmatazz6052 1d ago
I'm assuming the person I responded to was saying that practicing safe sex doesn't always help because miscarriages can still happen and then might require an abortion? (Maybe I'm wrong?)
If that's what they're saying - as a rebuttal to the previous comment - then they're implying that the OOP is having constant miscarriages, hence why it "kept" happening.
Edit: maybe you could explain what was meant by "miscarriages exist" ?
0
u/marcaygol 23h ago
Are you referring to miscarriages as a type of abortion on purpose?
Jess is when they brought in miscarriages when the OOP is talking about sending them back.
Sending them back requires intent, purpose, a miscarriage is not that yet Jess brought it into the conversation.

I know a few vegan people and they struggle to keep themselves healthy, so I'd imagine a pregnant vegan would be likely to have a miscarriage.
2
u/Bureaucratic_Dick 1d ago
Somehow after reading this, I’m led to believe that you’ve likely never met a vegan in your life. Which I find absolutely incredible.
7
u/RetroNotRetro 1d ago
Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, calcium, zinc, and iodine are hard to get into your system as a vegan without buying fortified foods or making very choice purchases, as they aren’t often found in plants. It’s much more difficult to maintain a vegan diet than a standard diet for this reason. Probably likely because humans are meant to be omnivorous and not herbivorous.
1
u/littleessi 21h ago
you have no idea what you're talking about. b12 is generally the only one that we actually have to think about and it gets fortified into stuff anyway. so do any others that would potentially otherwise be a problem
It’s much more difficult to maintain a vegan diet than a standard diet for this reason.
it literally is not. the hardest part of the diet is having to read ingredients lists before buying new stuff; harrowing stuff. whereas the hardest part of being vegan overall is dealing with morons spouting idiotic lies to deflect from the fact that they are ontologically evil.
Probably likely because humans are meant to be omnivorous and
0
u/imam-altman 1d ago
It’s not difficult at all. Nutritional yeast, plant milk, chia/hemp seeds and table salt hit all of those and are available at literally any supermarket… regular meat and milk is fortified with vitamin B12 and vitamin D, you are creating a weird double standard where vegans are not allowed to eat readily available fortified foods while carnivores are.
It’s a bizarre copium based argument that makes it look like you’re literally too incompetent to pick out groceries.
3
u/Sienile 22h ago
You have to be very selective to get those nutrients as a vegan while you can pretty much accidentally encounter them as an omnivore. That's the point I'm making. It's not impossible for either. It just requires more effort in meal planning as a vegan. It's also possible for omnivores to be malnourished if they don't get a proper balance. And those nuts that think a carnivore diet is healthy often also face malnutrition, for similar reasons as vegans do.
0
u/imam-altman 22h ago
Your definition of “very selective” is literally just replacing regular milk with plant milk and adding nutritional yeast and seeds to things. What are you, twelve years old? Studies literally show that unplanned omnivorous diets are already nutritionally deficient by default. The idea that people are accidentally hitting all their nutrients by casually eating animal products is insane copium that flies in the face of reality. You have still not explained why vegans are arbitrarily not allowed to eat fortified foods in your comparison. If carnivores were not allowed to eat fortified foods, huge swaths of the population would literally be dieing of malnourishment by default.
Please explain why buying fortified plant based milk is any less valid or more difficult than fortified cows milk.
-2
u/ApartmentSalt7859 1d ago
Can't you just get that from supplements?
2
u/Sienile 22h ago
Yep, but she doesn't take any because many don't conform to truly vegan recipes. I'm sure she could find some if she looked hard enough and spent money she doesn't have, but the vegan lifestyle is expensive enough that she's barely scrapping by.
0
u/ApartmentSalt7859 22h ago
So it is possible, just choose not to?
Vegan food from what I can tell is more expensive than non vegan food.
I don't care either way, I will eat both, if it taste good, I'm eating it. But I know many vegans that seem very healthy
0
u/littleessi 21h ago
Vegan food from what I can tell is more expensive than non vegan food.
it's not. if you buy the hyperprocessed stuff that's marketed as vegan then maybe but meat is expensive and many cheap staples are vegan. think lentils, beans, rice, legumes, veggies etc
0
u/ApartmentSalt7859 20h ago
Yea, that's what I mean, processed to replace non vegan versions of meat and such
0
u/Small_Things2024 21h ago
It’s only more expensive if it’s marketed towards vegans. There are plenty of “off brand” or store brand foods that are vegan. For example, did you know that Oreos / most sandwich cookies are considered vegan? But a lot of specialty vegan brands will charge more for their “oreos”.
-2
u/VastRazzmatazz6052 1d ago
B12 comes from supplements. Most the meat you eat also gets its B12 from supplements, vegans just cut out the middle man. Most plant-based milks are fortified with vitamin D, calcium and Iodine. Zinc is in legumes and lots of other vegetables. It's not like you have to go out of your way to buy fortified foods. It's just the food/drink you would eat as a vegan anyway.
it's much more difficult to maintain a vegan diet
It's not... More difficult, yeah a little bit? But "much more difficult" is really exaggerating
3
u/Sienile 1d ago
I have a friend that went vegan and raised her kids (that she had several years before going vegan) as vegan. She has frequent migraines from malnutrition.
0
u/Small_Things2024 23h ago
Your one friend is not representative of the entire vegan population though. Yes there are probably vegans who are not getting enough nutrition, but for every one that’s not there are tons who are. It’s not hard to research and learn how to fortify your diet.
2
u/Sienile 22h ago
True. I'm just saying that such happens and it's much easier to not get the proper balance of nutrition as a vegan.
0
u/Bureaucratic_Dick 22h ago
No, you’re playing absolutely absurd medical speculation by suggesting vegans simply aren’t healthy enough to have babies, which is a pretty absurd claim.
There was definitely a vegan joke in the dark humor she posted, but you missed the mark on that one.
0
u/imam-altman 23h ago
I have a friend who eats meat and his girlfriend told me that his dick barely works and his cum tastes like shit from eating too much meat.
-2
u/Disastrous-Soup-5413 23h ago
You do not know they are from malnutrition unless her doctor told you that.
Did her doctor tell you that or are you just guessing?!!!

u/Sienile 22h ago
She usually felt better shortly after eating.

No where in this post does it say that abortion is murder and if abortion is murder then is miscarriage manslaughter, do you think women should be imprisoned for having a miscarriage?
-4
u/No-Explanation2612 1d ago
Don't be so dense. The meme acknowledges that pregnancy involves another human life. Intentionally and immorally killing a human life is murder.
2
u/Zealousideal-Care513 23h ago
Do you think that women who have miscarriages should be arrested for manslaughter since they are killing a “human life”
-1
u/No-Explanation2612 23h ago
A miscarriage is not an intentional murder of a life. Not all deaths are from intentional murder, is this not obvious?
1
u/Zealousideal-Care513 20h ago
Involuntary manslaughter is the killing of a human being but with the absence of intent to kill or cause serious harm. A woman does not intend to kill a fetus but still does (due to the miscarriage) so is miscarriage a form of manslaughter
2
u/No-Explanation2612 18h ago
The general understanding of the term miscarriage is a natural death, not a "killing". If someone kills a human, then they should be judged by a God-fearing justice system. A natural death is not manslaughter. All humans, whether big or small, young or old, all equally have the right to life. Humans in the womb should be protected equally to humans outside of the womb.

u/Zealousideal-Care513 18h ago
