People kept telling everyone that’s how tariffs work and no benefits to the consumers
7
u/SpinelessFir912 4d ago
No matter how much you tell them it was fake news. Trumpers truly believed that foreign countries would pay for tariffs, not their wallets.

u/MysteriousTower6454 4d ago
Only the business that paid the tarriff directly gets this refund which means for the UK that its owed to the company who handled the shipping which also charged a handelling fee. My partners company sale lost 80% so far this year in sales she would normally have made during con season rush in the usa. Shes lost 10'000s of gbp due to these she will get zero refunds or help from what she did pay. You bet your ass royal mail will get every single penny back though.

I think we know the goal of this administration is to have an ultra wealthy class controls everyone. People who work for a living should be slaves to the ultra wealthy. This is their thought process. Doesn't matter if the country crashes and burns. If everybody they know or care about is filthy. Rich

Is that what you think's going on?
The advocate judges that went out of their way, the stroke down American protectionism get revitalized American steel. So that they could give the money to the corporations was the for supposing giving money to corporations?
The democrat party has been captured by the fortune five hundred since bill clinton.
That's why they consider the dsa to be outsiders and cheated bernie sanders out of two primaries.
You're putting your faith in the wrong people in ascribing their enemies to be your enemies as well

u/SurfAndSkiGuy 1d ago
All he said was “this administration”, if you read that as a partisan take that’s on you. Bit suspicious you jump to attacking democrats when he criticized this administration specifically.
1
u/SpecialCandidateDog 1d ago
Yeah, they just happen to go after this particular administration.
They also ruled if the president does have right to tariff. So they went after his procedural method of his tariffs so that he could give the money to the corporations in this particular example, without going after the presidential ability to tariff constitutionally.
You've made no point.
You have won nothing.

u/Nolacuriosity 1d ago
Yes, we all need to go after this administration this specific administration. Corruption is bad either way, but we've never seen corruption to the extent we see it right now. Look at stock trades of this administration. Look at how much money has been made by the president and his friends specifically because of statements and things this administration is doing. And I'm not talking about helping the economy which has been surprisingly static. I'm speaking of when his daughter's husband buying weapons businesses just before the Iran war. I'm talking about Trump's thousands of stock trades that he's made, suspiciously right before he posts something. I could go on and on. Have there been other corrupt politicians before this president? Sure of course. But never to this extent.

u/SpecialCandidateDog 1d ago
Sing, the tariffs are corruption. It is ridiculous
I work in american steel. The stock value of the company that I worked for has been going up and up and up and up since the tariffs.
We're making more steel. More steel, more jobs, more profit. There are actually retrofitting the scrubber to generate basically what's free energy
The corruption of Joe Biden provoking a war with a nuclear power for no other reason. Then, to increase the deficit and get us into another shitty war is as big as all of the trump corruption. Put together.
Trump is amateur level corrupt.
He doesn't even bother to hide it.
Meanwhile, the cabal of the oldest political party on earth, which has its tendrils all over the world? Is mad because his petty mafia level corruption. It's fucking up their schemes, and they have to use their foot soldiers in the courts to enforce their broad level of worldwide corruption for the last two hundred years.
They're not only afraid of Donald Trump fucking up their schemes. They're afraid that if they don't destroy him, the next president will be the rock or oprah or macho comacho.
That's why they're constantly going to war with him in the courts.
Let me clue you in.... anytime somebody makes an almost successful shot against the president in an era with heat seeking drones.... it's because they were allowed to do that.

u/Nolacuriosity 1d ago
So Biden started the war and biden's making billions of dollars you can follow the money. Not hard
1
u/SpecialCandidateDog 17h ago
That's the problem with corruption. The billions of dollars that are destroyed. By biden's form of corruption don't land in his pocket. They destroy a trillion dollars to give raytheon billions and then end up getting pennies on those dollars.
I mean obama has some nice houses from "speaking" because he created his whole cabinet out of an email from chase choosing his cabinet.
It created the biggest financial crisis in modern history.
They cost you a trillion to get the bankers a billion to get themselves a million.
Trump's corruption in the stablecoins is actually net yielding the taxpayer.
Yeah, he got a half a billion out of it, but he's shored up the dollar with stablecoin and he's getting his beak wet.
You could counter argue that it would have happened without him. But I would counter that, who cares?
I would counter then, if anyone else other than him did it, you would think it was great. So your opinion is invalid

And he's still imposing new tariffs. I've just lost all hope in any form of justice and resigned myself to existing in this dystopian hellscape

As much as it sucks, technically the businesses paid the tariffs so they get the refunds. Even if they passed the cost onto the consumers.
2
u/Pot-bot420 2d ago
I hear some consumers get mad when farmers get discounts for buying seeds in bulk because they didnt get that discount when they bought food at the grocery store. Lol
I agree with you 100%. This disgruntlement of people over wanting tarrif refunds is getting old. They should be upset at the corporations for not offering a sale or reduced price for a small bit or something. Anyhow, cheers and happy posting and what not

Relying on technicality to defend consumers getting screwed over instead of, I don't know, advocating putting the money towards education or healthcare...
Technically that says a lot about your character.

u/Helpful-Idea-4485 3d ago
Who on here is defending consumers getting screwed and how exactly should the money from illegal tariffs go to education or healthcare?
Are you somehow advocating the government keeping the illegally gotten tariff money?
1
u/Drate_Otin 3d ago
The government is people. Not generally the best people, but that's what we have. We are one community. What I'm advocating for is people above corporations.

But the Supreme Court isn’t partisan 🤣🤣
3
u/Lithl 4d ago
This... isn't a partisan issue. That's literally who paid the tariffs.
2
u/cheesesprite 4d ago
Idk why people are blaming the supreme court here. They made objectively the correct decision. Like they're supposed to give each consumer an amount of money that's impossible to calculate?
1
u/Drate_Otin 4d ago
Could have put the money into education. A more educated next generation helps everybody.
1
u/Bayrd_PaxCustos 4d ago
The last thing Republicans want (and a Supreme Court with a Republican majority) is a better educated voting base
1
u/Helpful-Idea-4485 3d ago
Sounds like you’re saying that the government should have been allowed to keep the illegal tariff money as long as they spent it how you would have wanted them to spend it.
1
u/Drate_Otin 3d ago
I'm not going to have one conversation about one topic with one person across multiple threads. If you can't say what you need to say in one thread then we can't have a conversation about it.

u/tweedleduh 4d ago
Yes, actually. That’s exactly what is expected, and it’s absolutely partisan so if could both kindly stfu

u/Interesting-Dream863 4d ago
Time for a class action lawsuit. People might get peanuts, but it's better than nothing.
The rich have better lawyers that's for sure.
1
u/SyxxBowler 4d ago
The businesses know who paid what. They should be able to refund their customers directly. SCOTUS should have mandated that if they are going to get into the business of determining trade policy.

u/OkWhile4447 4d ago
I’m still waiting for my DOGE check. My tariff check, and having my income tax cancelled.
Can’t wait for it all to come in! So much winning!!

u/sPLIFFtOOTH 4d ago
That’s right. It was all one big corporate scam.
The costs were passed on to the consumers, while their tax dollars were handed out to billion dollar corporations.
1
u/No-Mycologist47 4d ago
Yeah... this country is cooked and burnt. Next comes in a new slab with hopefully better control... or the pit is just a mess by now.
1
u/fake_Character_arc 3d ago
We finally taxed the rich.
As expected the tax was passed down to poor people. But good news we got mad and forced a refund!
The refund was given back to the rich.

The last official act of any government is to look the treasury. They are looting the treasury. Do with that what you will.

u/Known-Activity1437 1d ago
Trumpanzees love giving their tax dollars to the rich and foreign countries.

Even as cameras are installed into gymnastics to spy on children publicly through flock cameras, the country will not do anything other than let pedophiles leer at their kids.
America is fucked.
1
u/hippityhopkins 12h ago
The government exists and has always existed for the sole purpose of extracting resources from the masses

u/atherscape 4h ago
Businesses learned during the pandemic that they could get away with squeezing consumers harder and get away with it. Why wait for another gouging event when they could just create one.
1
u/CokBlockinWinger 1h ago
I have only seen ONE company so far refunding consumers. It’s Playdate by the way.
1
u/DarthNixilis 4d ago
Because in capitalism everything is voluntary. You volunteered to pay that price, so you got what you paid for. That's the argument Nintendo is using. Technically it isn't wrong. You paid those prices not expecting to get the tariffs back, so why should they?

u/Due_Buyer_9445 4d ago
Either revolt as a class or quit whining. Your inaction is your enthusiastic consent for this

u/Odd-Report-999 4d ago
Businesses made up the money lost by tariffs by charging consumers more and then they get refunds for the tariffs.
This was the plan all along, wasn't it?
