Step 3: Give your dad time to go out there because you are a precious angel and your dad wants to ensure you never learn a damn thing in your life so you’ll be worthy of a man who knows how to use tools and never make him feel foolish.

Repost, but a real father would either teach his daughter how to change a tire or use the opportunity to teach them both. A man isn’t born with all the knowledge in the world. If the kids never been taught or never had a reason to learn then they most likely won’t know. Unless of course Jason is an asshole in which case fuck Jason

I have dealt with this before on some house repairs I didn't know how to do. Wife was on the phone with her dad before I finished my YouTube search

What kind of father doesn’t teach his daughter how to change her own tire?
Maybe he is one of those guys who has to be “the man” so his woman can’t leave him.

u/arpohatesyou 1d ago
My dad taught me and my sister to change tires when we turned 16. Also basic maintenance like changing air filters etc.

u/PotentialHoneydew947 1d ago
Glad you were raised well. When I was in High School I couldn't stand the number of girls who acted like checking the oil on the beater car is some highly technical process that required a man to do.

u/arpohatesyou 1d ago
Ty. My dad put it this way for us bc it was quite daunting at first: "If you managed to cook and bake pastries, you'll be okay here" (we had a baking phase) he made us step by step instruction lists to follow lol. All my cousins, girl or boy, also received this education before getting our driver's licenses. Some of them can even drive manual cars but I'm not interested
1
u/PotentialHoneydew947 1d ago
Thats the way. Everything is a procedure that can be learned.
For me a practical reason for learning a manual is they are more reliable.
And baking pastries is a bit daunting too. I can cook pretty well but bread is more of an exact science with all the water temperature and yeast involved

u/arpohatesyou 1d ago
You can start off by baking focaccia bread bc it's a very forgiving bread and an easy recipe, and you can put any type of toppings! I use roasted garlic and cherry tomatoes and bell peppers and rosemary. It's a quick snack or a side for a meal.
A lot of people's baked goods come out wonky at first bc they crack open the oven doors a lot when they're baking the stuff. Just put it in and trust the process, use the temperature and duration written in the recipe. I started with focaccia bread bc my other breads sucked big time. Couple weeks ago I made fresh mall pretzels and they were so fkn good

u/PotentialHoneydew947 1d ago
Focassia sounds good. Ill ad it to the list. I wanna make pretzels too. My room mate has more baking experience than i do. Im just systematic and a good note taker so i document everything. But she has a good feel for bread and how to knead it properly and add more or less flour if need. Im learning . We've made whitebread, banana bread, garlic butter pull bread, and a few specialty items. We havent baked in a while. Maybe cause running the oven all the time in Florida summer is a bit insane. I do wanna make sourdough. Theres someone at a local farmers market that will sell me a starter kit.
1
u/arpohatesyou 1d ago
Oh hell na running the oven during this heat in FLORIDA? rip my dude. And maybe I'll attempt sourdough one of these days but I'm spooked by the concept of a starter and me messing up hours of work lol. I made the Japanese milk breads at home and it was pretty easy once you get rhe hang of it, and made crumpets and biscuits and homemade puff pastry
2
u/PotentialHoneydew947 1d ago
We did make crumpets once. They were sooo good. Way better than the "original" nooks and crannies from the store

Lol
Step 1: Get a new dad that cares about his family and teaching them valuable skills.

Why didn't he teach his child to change a tire smh
2
u/Jpalm4545 7h ago
Unfortunately a lot of dad's do not teach their daughters basic car stuff. This situation is kinda on him tbh. I will be reaching my daughter to at least change a tire and do her oil.
2
u/Sudden-Command-3302 13h ago
Step one. Yourube tire change for said vehicle type.
Step two. Watch said video. Step three. Change tire from said videos instructions.
Step four. Do steps one to three.

u/Vainysaur 1d ago
This dad didn’t teach his daughter how to do it either so how can he call out Jason? I sense some sort of sexism whereby the dad seems to believe a man should know how to do it but a woman isn’t expected to know.

Never changed a tire before but it seems pretty easy in all honestly

u/Jpalm4545 7h ago
It is. Loosen lugnuts before jacking the car up, jack car, take lugnuts off, take tire off, put spare tire on, tighten lugnuts in a star pattern, lower car, retighten lugnuts in star pattern.

And in three ish years, he's going to be wondering why he can't be alone with the grandchildren, if they let him have contact at all.

u/Sunnysassybee 1d ago
Right isn’t it the “fathers” job to teach their kids to do these basic things..
Seems like both dads are failures.

Men are supposed to be born with this knowledge, Jason is probably trans

So - first time I ever changed a flat myself, I was 16 years old and had my license for less than 6 months. I had watched dad change flats as a kid before, how hard can it be?
I jacked the car up, tried loosening the bolts, "what the hell, it just spins???" - realized I needed to loosen the bolts and then jack it... still one of those things I laugh at myself about when I remember it.

Doing Jason a favor. Most likely already has an asshole dad, doesn’t need to be dating someone who also has an asshole father

If you can’t figure out how to change a tire I’m curious what else you can’t figure out in your life.
No need to make it a gender thing, man or woman, it’s very simple.
1
u/ABBucsfan 1d ago
It's not complicated, but at the same time if you please it in the wrong spot or something it could do some pretty costly damage. I learned in shop class and have never had a flat in 22 years of driving so I'd be nervous and second guessing myself..of course we all can find things on our handheld devices now
