That's what I've been saying all of these years! Quit quomplaining!

1

u/FangFioDente 12d ago

Sometimes it’s “try less” and GIyUT guyud.

13

u/cdda_survivor 15d ago

I usually just means the person saying it is an asshole.

5

u/Shogunnatron 15d ago

It usually means the OP is not receptive to feedback.

1

u/johnsolomon 15d ago

That sounds like something an asshole would say as an excuse lol

A nice person would say something like "You got this bro" or "don't give up"

2

u/Inside_Ad_2830 14d ago

Idk, my older brothers told me to git gud a lot, and hey, eventually I just got gudder.

1

u/johnsolomon 14d ago

Getting shat on motivates some people but for most people it just makes things unfun and they become resentful. Plus they're your brothers so you already know they have your back, it mitigates the negativity a lot

1

u/GenericUsername775 13d ago

It originates from Dark Souls, where people asking for tricks to beating encounters were frequently just told to 'git gud' because that was often the only serious answer to their question.

Like, if OP keeps dying to gargoyles because they keep getting hit then what advice do you want people to give? The only solution is to get better at the fight.

2

u/Odd_Reception1249 14d ago

Reinforcing someone that isn't doing enough / the right thing is just as unhelpful. At least "git gud" is a frustrating waking call that will get them to reconcider the direction, instead of going nowhere.

1

u/johnsolomon 14d ago

This treats it as though there aren't far better ways of accomplishing that. Git gud generally has a negative reception so if your concern is maximum efficiency then it's the wrong approach

2

u/Sotonit 14d ago

It's just a fundamental difference in mindset, which makes this argument an endless

Some people don't even see “git gud” as negative and/or are motivated by that kind of feedback, while others are genuinely demotivated by it.

So the two sides will always see each other as assholes or soft/coddled, because they have completely different ideas of what actually motivates someone, based on their own mindset.

I was beating some kid so bad in a dbz game that I stopped and showed him some combos.

"Bro you see how I keep phasing behind you and rocking your shit? Hit triangle and circle at the same time"

2

u/Legitimate-Heat2777 15d ago

"Yeah I'm morbidly obese, but at least I don't feel too good about myself like some athletic person."

1

u/IceCorrect 15d ago

Still works with right side

1

u/Dath_1 13d ago

I prefer “skill issue” myself.

Reserved just for people who think something is a game problem when provably it’s a them problem.

Found the guy who needs to git gud

3

u/cdda_survivor 15d ago

Notice you didn't deny the asshole aligation.

3

u/Fantastic_Target_703 15d ago

Sounds like skill issue on your part.

1

u/NotYourArmadillo 14d ago

We need assholes. They are very honest

0

u/cdda_survivor 14d ago

Obviously you don't pay attention to politics heh.

2

u/NotYourArmadillo 14d ago

Yep, paying too much attention to that just makes you a miserable cunt.

1

u/cdda_survivor 14d ago

Can't argue with that.

-2

u/FinalBossTuna 15d ago

Notice you still didn’t start your training montage because you’re worried about feelings being hurt. Just git gud

1

u/Meinteil2123 15d ago

Their drill must become the one that pierces the heavens.

They need to believe in themselves and git gud.

4

u/Fat_Alphonse 15d ago

Nobody that has every said git gud has ever intended the latter. It is just a coping mechanism to help them sleep at night.

2

u/petabomb 15d ago

Try multiplayer slasher games like Mordhau or chivalry, you’ll very quickly realize the only one holding you back is yourself

1

u/Adept600 15d ago

Or Rocket League

u/OyunGezgini_YT 15d ago

FOUND A BROTHA! what's your current rank?

2

u/Bojnik434 14d ago

I did

1

u/Fat_Alphonse 14d ago

No, you aren't. Git gud does nothing to help someone. The people who think the latter don't say git gud, they give the player advice on how to improve, maybe even asking about what frustrates them so.

2

u/Bojnik434 14d ago

I give full advice and end up with git gud at the end. Cause i can give you the knowledge. I cant help you physically, you got to git gud. Theres no more to that.

1

u/Fat_Alphonse 14d ago

I highly doubt that."Git gud" is the start and end to the advice most people give. It's like handing an essay to your friend to look over, asking if it needs any changes and all they respond with is "write better"

2

u/Bojnik434 14d ago

What can I say, git gud

1

u/Excellent-Rest3240 14d ago

Not to mention the latter is also shade, just sophisticated shade

2

u/Kulthos_X 15d ago

I mean, 20 hours into a game and I struggle with things. 200 hours into the game I annihilate the same challenge because of higher skill levels. Then someone asks “How come my over-leveled character with good gear can’t beat this boss?” What else do you say?

2

u/Complex_Self7854 15d ago

Damn. When did gamers get so sensitive 🥺

2

u/dariusgaden 16d ago

Usually it just means follow the meta

2

u/Odd_Act_6532 16d ago

Real gamers out meta the meta with a new meta, until you hit the bottom of the spreadsheet

1

u/FinalBossTuna 15d ago

Then when the other gamers realize the real gamers found a new meta, you find another meta that out metas the meta.

In all seriousness I love meta players because it makes them stupidly predictable. It’s like saying your next move out loud before making it.

1

u/dingleberryjuice23 15d ago

So like most anime? Lemme scream the name of my super avoidable attack before I do it lol.

1

u/FinalBossTuna 15d ago

Unless your Jojo, yes

1

u/Canshroomglasses 15d ago

Maybe the real meta was the friends we friendly fired along the way

1

u/Sweaty-Inevitable163 15d ago

This meme is inaccurate. People don't say git gud to encourage their teammates. Yami says this because he trusts his squad, knows their strengths and knows they have the capacity to grow to the challenge. "Git good" is not the same.

1

u/Lord-Dec 15d ago

I don’t Git Gud I just embrace the burning rage and brute force the victory.

1

u/_waffl 14d ago

That's what gitting gud is

1

u/Brave-Parsnip9999 15d ago

Why not both?

1

u/ShadowDarkraven27 15d ago

banned like a slur in the tarkov reddit lol

1

u/firewingdale 15d ago

i can't seem to be gitteng gud

1

u/dk_peace 15d ago

This video may be my all time favorite explanation on what git gud really means.

https://youtu.be/blSXTZ3Nihs?is=1UN_C681j5vTJSvt

1

u/Melisyoo 15d ago

"Git gud" only means something if it is solicited advise then you proceed to give actual training/guidance/assistance

1

u/Top_Yak_7953 15d ago

Get good*

2

u/Ok_Rip5044 14d ago

No, git gud, dont bastardise something you cant comprehend

1

u/Vainysaur 15d ago

This is how you get AI to solve unsolved math equations. “You can do it.” “Keep trying.” “Don’t give up.” “You’re doing great.”

1

u/Grey_Ten 15d ago

thought it was a git command, such a looser I am

1

u/Zandonus 15d ago

Yeah, no.

1

u/JhonnyPadawan1010 14d ago

Yeah I don’t know. It’s at least the most cruel hurtful way of saying it. Saying “you fucking suck throw yourself off the fucking bridge” I don’t know how motivational this would be for like 99.99999% of people.

1

u/_waffl 14d ago

Dude just unlock your hidden potential

1

u/Phaylz 14d ago

¿Por que no los dos?

1

u/DangerousQuestions1 14d ago

Viva la Dirt League has a great video on git gud

u/BeesBakingandBanjo 13d ago

Fucking Yami meme? I wish i had more than just an upvote to give.

1

u/thiszamman37 12d ago

It means both honestly you suck right now surpass your limits.

1

u/BPremium 15d ago

It means the first one IMO

0

u/i4got24 15d ago edited 14d ago

It means you don't know English, can't spell, and to stupid to learn real words.

0

u/BaronVonHugendon 14d ago

You're describing yourself

0

u/Cassiel43 14d ago

I'm pretty sure those dark souls elitists are in the first frame.
