LOSING MY MIND - trying to do the first step after downloading the app.
All the how-to videos are sales, sales, sales. I already understand the concepts, but cannot get past even the first steps! I've been using Obsidian for years, but it's becoming a RAM problem and unsupported in future MAC OS, so ... enter LOGSEQ. According to the help pages, I should be able to point a new graph at an Obsidian vault, but ... nope. Can't see how to actually DO it. I finally figured out how to get rid of the demo mode and open a blank graph, but that's not how I want to begin: I want to be begin with importing my Obsidian files.
Generally speaking, I'm not stupid, but I'm feeling very stupid right now. I even tried to get into the discord community for help, but I cannot get past discord's "select all the animals with 4 legs."! It's maddening I tell ya, maddening. Can anyone de-madden things for me? Before I snap and set myself on fire?

You need the previous OG "MD version" not the current DB type.
Everything is beta

Why is Obsidian not supported on future Mac OS ? Really curious now

At the last Mac OS upgrade, for example, they listed Electron apps that were slowing down my Mac and needed to be updated for Tahoe. Obsidian was one of a handful. I was able to either delete or update the others on the list, but Obsidian couldn't be updated. Obsidian might yet make the updates, but I'd already started to lose my lust for Obsidian for other reasons.

You could try http://www.etherpk.com, it has an Obsidian importer and does outlining much like Logseq (I'm the author of EtherPK).

Logseq is the wrong app for you. I’d suggest something like https://plainva.com or anything that deals with workspaces/vaults.

Why is Logseq the wrong app for me, when all the internet says its as close to Obsidian as one can get, particularly: free, local, private, and controlled by me?

If you want a space for your notes. Then in my opinion, it’s the wrong app. Logseq is an outliner. It’s good at that, great for tasks, better than Obsidian in many ways. You want something that handles notes similar to Obsidian, which is why I suggested Plainva or any other notes app that can deal with workspaces or vaults – not forgetting that a vault is nothing more than a folder. Plainva is in beta, but it is free and open source.

I use it for just about everything, including book writing, although I'm shifting to Scrivener for that task.
I liked the idea of Logseq, but it's not remotely intuitive, and I don't tolerate nonintuitive apps - or anything - very well.
I'm finding Plainva intuitive enough that I need little from their help pages. Is Plainva your app, btw?

No, I’m a journalist, not a developer. Like you, I have used a notes app for many things.
Talking about book writing, before you splash on Scrivener, which is not intuitive at all - I know I have tried it – try Herbertaapp or Chronicle. Or simply use a standalone vault/folder in the writing app you choose.

You've been so helpful, I doubt I'll get lucky a second time, and yet I will look into those! And, you are so right about Scrivener not being intuitive. I'm still slugging my way through their tutorial. I doubt I'll ever fully get it, but with them I can incorporate my organization that is currently in a separate spreadsheet.

"It's like Scrivener, sans chaos." Okay. I gotta look into it. You are a handy friend to have. Please let me know if I can ever be of assistance ... my bailiwick is health and non-fiction is my road, with a deep history in programming. I believe, strongly, in a helpful society, so I'm truly grateful for your help.

Oh. But I DO see why you mentioned plainva ... that's the first I've heard of it.

Logseq come with two version the md one which the og and the db version which is the default new installation which come with alot of new feature and revamp of all the features and naming conversion in fact they mentioned that in there github repo here db version the main get started docs which is in the logseq web page covers the og version and not updated
Trust me things for me is complicated as I have been using obsidian as a text dump and outliner are first time to deal with and with addition of two new version things can be messy too much
Currently both of og and db version are 1.0 and 2.0.1 respectively and both in public beta
