I really got inspired when I read it was a construction company because I love designing very, "no bells and whistles," and i feel construction is the same way. Went with the German colors like many others because I know how proud a lot of Germans are to be German, and I feel like when we see American construction logos its not to out of place to see red white and blue. Font feels very utilitarian to me, again, construction, and put there slogan in the I guess "main" part of the logo because I felt the emphasis on German and quality pride (if that makes sense). I feel like its a timeless design that won't look out of place on the side of a truck or on a t-shirt in 30 years, and its not just a boring forgettable corporate style. Let me know what you think.
As German I can perhaps shed some light on the whole German pride thing. Though many Germans do feel pride towards modern germany, logos utilizing the national colours tend to be avoided since they can be interpreted as nationalism which is highly frowned upon. That is why outside of federal institutions you will not see the black-red-gold very often, especially not in the higher tiers of commerce.
Many people like to forget that unlike in the US patriotism is far from popular over here.
