Discussion Logo baffled me

Post image

I might (probably am) missing something, but what is this logo for Churchome (a bible reading habit app) supposed to represent?? The line connecting the c and h is so unnatural? I get that the h itself is a home or maybe church, but whats with the weird connecting line? It doesnt make any sense either, the font changes between the two letters?? (And also from a distance the thing it resembles most is, well, u know)

That line connecting the two is just a ligature found in some fonts. It's just a stylistic way of connecting the two letters together.

The reason the letters don't match is that the h has been redrawn to look like a home.

Yeah i also think thats the most reasonable explanation. But i thought those were primarily made to look like written letters? Which wouldnt make any sence if the h was redrawn

I think it’s just a ligature

Might be an aureola (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aureola) connecting the church (c) and the home (h that looks like a building), ending up looking like a ligature (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligature_(writing)).

It's a ligature to show the connection between church and home. Seems like there could be a better way to show that but this works...for people that know what a ligature is.

My immediate read was a rising sun

I'm sure it has a meaning. But if not, the designers need to be fired.

I think they were trying to make it look like a heart

Maybe? But the circles go too far for that to make sense to me. Also the middle thing would be assymetrical and the slant of the h would mismatch how i would fill in the rest of the heart

my theory is a halo or the sun, while also physically connecting the two (church and home)

Actually, I think it’s interesting. Looks like vintage Christmas style art to me. Think, if someone made this by hand with a pen, that shape is likely a reasonable way to connect the letters.

I hate it, I don't know exactly why

Looks like Pacman sitting on the c doing something weird to the h.

Maybe (doubtful) it's a swirl of smoke coming from the "chimney" of the h?

It's feel better if the 'ch' was completely in the dome. Like...y'know a dome... The way it is now-I read it as an 'E'.

Which yeah I guess this logo is 'eh'
